More surprisingly, Barca went into the second leg vs. Roma up 4-1 and ended up losing the game 3-0 to not advance on away goals tiebreaker.

At this point, looking likely that the champions of Britain, Spain, and Italy will all lose in the quarters, unless Juve can overcome 3-0 against RM.

Real Madrid won this thing last year, Liverpool had to win a tie in August just to qualify for the group stage. They have 17 CL titles between them.

Liverpool is as hot as any team in the world right now. Adding Virgil van Dijk is probably the best thing that could have happened to them. It’s done wonders to making Dejan Lovren a viable option defensively. Would love to see them win it, in all honesty. They have the talent to pull it off, that’s for sure.

They basically give it to the best player on the CL winning team or in the WC years the Golden Ball winner from that.
