UEFA Champions League (Official Thread)

Happy to see my Reds get their first win...looking in fine form. Roma looks horrible this year...1 point in 2 Serie A matches so far...which is one more than AC Milan has :yow2:

Yeah the Serie A big boys are falling apart. AC are so old at the back they have very little chance to win outside of outscoring everyone.
My bad - simple bet. I've got a 1,000 vBucks on the blues for any taker.
Not without odds. You hold all the cards. At home, The FA somehow found a way to give you John Terry back, and in great form. Seems like a sucker bet to me. I may change my mind depending on how they play today against Villarreal

I was happy to see Liverpool take care of business on the road at Olympic Marseilles.

Away match at Athletico looms large.

Liverpool have a favorable group. Yes Athletico are a good side but Marseille are doomed and PSV are in need of some help. I don't see how Liverpool don't make it out of that Group. For that matter, I see all 5 British Isle teams making it through.

It is an easier group, admittedly, but the Reds are in pretty good form right now. I think all the Isle teams could definitely make it out.

Oh yeah, Rafa has the Reds playing very well. And for once, they seem to have luck on their side in the League, not just the CL. Parkhead is a very tough place to play. That Catholic side of Glasgow is a very loud and proud bunch. They are probably my second favorite "Football" team in Europe. Arsenal may have the easiest group of them all. Getting Fenerbache and Kiev is an easy time except for the amount of travel. The only short trip is to Porto. Then the long trip to the Ukraine and Turkey may make for some tired looking games either in the Prem or CL.

True. I like the Scottish sides myself. Fenerbache isn't an easy draw though, they can be tough, espeically at home at with that jet lag. You never really know what you're going to get from them or Galatasaray from match to match, the Turkish sides seem pretty unpredictable.

Wow is united looking bad right now. They may be playing for second place here really soon. 9 points is what they will be behind in the Prem if they lose to Chelsea this weekend. Lucky for them nobody in the group really felt like scoring yesterday. They better get it together and soon. I never gave Carlos Quieroz as much credit as I think he deserved in the game prep and tactics. United look a bit lost without him.

Don't recall seeing an entire group with no goals on the board before. They caught a break with Villareal not being able to score on Aalborg. They'll be fine.

Man United played Villireal at home and scored none. Celtic had the Danes in Glasgow and managed nothing. This group should be interesting now as all are still even after 1 round.

Oh, oops :!

I read the results wrong. Either way, they caught a break because the other game went scoreless though...I stand by that
 Come on, that was a great goal...
Great goals are those that are made by superior individual effort, not horrific marking on a set piece. Those are lucky goals because if the marking is done correctly that doesn't happen. In any event, how much longer does Nicholas Anelka have before he is sold once again and labelled a malcontent, forever growing his moniker "The Incredible Sulk". Any guesses. I will bet he starts 2 more games and then he will be on the bench until January, then he is off to another low level side. He is at his best as the only fish in a small pond.

Great question. Anelka had another rebound goal on Saturday (just catching up on my DVR'd games now... )

Personally, I like Anelka better than Drgoba right now.

Arsenal looks pretty strong thus far, despite the Hull match this week (which I'm watching right now). And Im anxious to get to today's Man City game to see if their investments are paying off...

Are there any Liverpool fans out here? I'd be anxious to get some insight into them...

UEFA matches resume this week...
