Game Thread UCF Knights at tOSU - Sat, Sep 8, Noon ESPN2

Our offense really needs to get things going in the first half. I fully expected them to come out with their hair on fire this week. We can't play MSU and let Bell be able to decide the game in a few weeks. And where is Roby? Haven't heard his name yet.

Biggest concern for me down the road is that the D doesn't look very physical. DL seems somnolescent and UCF RB's are continually getting extra yards after contact. I do hope that the dark side of running the up-tempo spread offense isn't softening of the D . . . On offense, I'm just not quite understanding the somewhat slower pace (i.e., why two claps this week instead of one?)

I want some EVIDENTS that the DL is anything near what it's supposed to be.

We've got to see some more of the short passing game in the second half to really pull away from UCF. They are keying in too much on the run, and OSU's offense isn't doing enough to counter the number of players in the box. Once the passing game starts, and the UCF's defense starts to fall back into coverage, that's when Miller punishes defenses with his feet.

Well there's not much choice right now. In saying that They need to find a way to get braxton's passing game going. He is just about on par with last week and if he has to run all game cramping may be an issue again. I for one would not want to try and finish this game with out Braxton.

Observations-

1. We need to take some chances with our base defense. We are getting out muscled in our nickle and I think that was UCF's game plan. Get us in Nickle personnel and then run right at us with our smaller defense on the field. We need to get some size out there to counter.

2. Our offense is fine and for the most part is all that is being made out to be. 3rd and long? No problem. Lots of blown plays early (particularly Hyde forgetting twice that it was a handoff to him).

3. Our defensive line is getting ZERO push or penetration. Two games straight that this has happened going into the half. If I hear "we were laying back to see what they'd do" or "we needed to face some problems" I'm not buying it this week. The objective is simple, whip the man across from you and [censored] the play up.

4. Philly Brown is going to be great all year and you can see just how dangerous this offense will be once we get Hall back.

5. Christian Bryant really has issues with angles of pursuit.

Stop putting Hank at end and put Spence out there. He hit the QB a couple times.

Kind of like last week, defense taking away other runners and beating up Brax. Not a good situation but we're playing the big boys now. UCF is a big, physical team with talent on both offense and defense. This will stay a tight game. Gotta keep Brax healthy. That's the priorty.

Glad that they scored there at the end of the half, but Miller cannot be carrying the ball this much the whole season. He's already starting to get up slow. I understand the need to run him and get the O going, but I really want to see a decent passing game to start the 2nd half.

I'm not sure what happened with the defense, but they just aren't getting it done. No pressure on the QB, can't clog the holes during runs, taking bad angels. I thought with Fickell getting back to being a D coach that they would be improved in those areas this season, but not seeing it so far.

With Hyde going out (hopefully not serious) OSU needs to come out of halftime, get the passing game going, score and get some breathing room.

I'm not worried. Let's see some Rod Smith in the 2nd half. What are the offensive numbers? We have to be outgaining them by at least two-fold. The turnover on 4th at midfield and the fumble are keeping UCF in it. I'm liking the pace of the offense, and Braxton Miller is fantastic. The defense has had some poor plays for sure, and I would like to see more Noah Spence... But I didn't see anything that makes me think OSU can't win this game by 3 scores.

Offense will b fine... defense.is major issue... LBs and safeties continue to blow assignments and miss tackles... your defense cannot succeed when that happens... furthermore and surprisingly...the dline has not played well through 1.5 games... CBs are only unit playing at high level right now

It would have been interesting to say the least...

Agree, but I don't think TP really developed into a decent passer. Braxton is starting his what 14th game? He still has a lot of time to polish his game, and I think he's starting to

I'll take a 38-10 final score. Defense needs to tighten up, get some pressure and keep the offense on the field. Offense needs to figure out their rhythm. Be patient, mix in enough pass with the option, figure out the reads and hammer down.

I don't think it is going to be that easy but I'd love to be wrong.

We're getting thin at RB and UCF has shown they can run it on us to a degree.
