Was an undefeated team allowed in to the CFP?You're free to regard the College Football Playoffs as an ESPN "beauty pageant," but pardon me if I regard such opinions as odd.

Remember when we had to have a playoff so as to solve the issue of there being a question who the Champion was? How the playoff would extinguish all the controversy? Good times.
In other news, I have just declared myself a National Champion for all sports 2018. The NCAA or ESPN (if you wish) may declare other champs, but make no mistake, I too am a champion. I'm gonna paint it on T-shirts and cop cars, so it's real.
I am aware, which is why I tossed in the "ESPN (if you wish)" part....Well since you're everyone everywhere, this makes sense....
The NCAA doesn't really determine the champion in D-1A/FBS/etc football. They do for every other level.
Besides, the same people who ran the BCS are running the CFP selection committee. At least with the BCS you had computer models and something actually tangible to go by. This is 12 or 13 people voting behind closed doors (which is oddly consistent with the sport), but totally a beauty pageant.

Regardless, and being on record as having had issues with the playoff the selection committee gave us (Alabama should not have been included, all things considered), it's just dumb for any school anywhere to just say "We're the National Champions" I mean, we joke about Alabama and other schools and all their "claimed" titles, why is UCF any different? Because ESPN sucks? Because the committee sucks? Plain fact is, UCF played two ranked teams, Memphis (25) twice and South Florida (21). In the second Memphis game, by the score, you might as well have been watching basketball (62-55). I feel comfortable saying UCF would not have been in the running had they played any of Clemson, Georgia, Oklahoma, Alabama, or hell, even Ohio State's schedules.
Long and short, Tulane was undefeated in 1998. No one claims they should have won the title over Tennessee
Utah went undefeated in 2004, but no one claims they should have won the title over USC or Auburn (who was crying about their not having a chance... despite playing the fucking Citadel La tech and La Monroe OOC)
Truck driver U went undefeated in 2006, but no one says they should be champion over Florida (Well, that's not fair, one "WOKE AS FUCK" AP pollster did)
Then there was Utah again in 2008 who ended up 13-0 and #2 behind 13-1 Florida. Didn't hear the Utes being whiny fucktards about it.
2009 Truckdrivers ended up 4th behind Bama No one cried... also not fair, as frosted tips was surely pounding the table along with his ESPN cronies trying to get a playoff...
I'll stop there, just because my point is pretty clear by now - Merely going undefeated isn't all that important/impressive nor does it render the team "deserving" nor.. is any self declared National Championship worth a bucket of piss.
Fuck them. If they want to be a football National Champion, they should go play in some other fucking division.
I mean, we joke about Alabama and other schools and all their "claimed" titles, why is UCF any different?
Another odd remark.
I happen to enjoy college football. Why a supposed Buckeye fan would want it to "collapse and burn" is a puzzlement.
I have no issue ridiculing Alabama and their having had a second chance. I am firm in my position that they should not have been in the playoff, even in light of them winning it all. As for UCF and 30 years ago, ask BYU if they think people blink eyesUsually those are ridiculing teams that lost a game... often a bowl game against another claimant.
UCF went undefeated, won their division, won their conference, and beat Auburn... something Alabama cant say.
Change the date by 30 years and nobody would blink an eye at UCF having a share of the title.
Alabama being gifted 2nd chances despite losing on the field, twice now ... that will continue to be ridiculed.
To me, the team that won the regular season is more champion than a team that won a handful of games. Take baseball, if a team wins 110 games out of 162 games..... just why the fuck do they need to do a goddamned thing else to get the opportunity to play the winner of the other league, ya know?CFB is transitioning from being a sport that crowned a champion based almost solely on regular season performance to a sport trying to crown a champion based on an end of season tournament.
Team 1 wins the regular season basketball crown, team 2 wins the conference tournament.
Who's the real champ?

Or, if you prefer, 2002 Ohio State.... should they have been made to play the winner of USC Iowa (I realize seeding would have been different, probably Ohio State v. USC and then the winner of that playing the winner of Iowa Miami)
Villanova 1985 is another great example, as far as I'm concerned..... Georgetown beat them 2 out of 3 times they played, but... apparently only the game in March meant a fuck
