UCF Golden Knights (2017 National Champs....sort of)

They beat Memphis twice when they were ranked and also beat USF when they were ranked as well. Yeah their schedule wasn't great but they did have 4 ranked wins this year and beat the team that beat both of this years Natty finalists.

This will be as close as they ever get so they absolutely should claim it.

Plus this is a huge middle finger to the committee which is well deserved on their part.

My point would be that Memphis is no more of a quality win for them than Free Shoes was for Memphis. Look at the computer rankings. Nobody but Auburn. As Ohio State learned, it's the grind of ranked teams week after week.

Claim whatever they want but that don't make it so.

Every student at UCF pay an extra $15 per credit hour to subsidize the AD. The total subsidy last year was 27 million dollars. And their pissing hundreds of thousands of dollars away in a publicity stunt to coaches who are already being paid by Nebraska. Screw UCF. I hope the state legislature gets involved in this shit.

and Alabama who probably wins this Monday will not have had that grind.. both UCF and Alabama's schedules were weak but only one of them was afforded the opportunity to play for it all.

Opportunity is everything... Who knows who would've won had OSU, UCF, USC, and Wisconsin also got in. Maybe Wisconsin gets hot and runs the table for all we know.

So because they were unjustifiably denied the opportunity to even prove it then why not? Particularly if they beat the team that either Georgia or Alabama lost to on a "Neutral" field.

I get your point but both Alabama/UCF's schedules were garbage but yet only one was given the opportunity to play for the championship. That's the benefit a program like Alabama or an Ohio State (normally lol) will get over a school like UCF

Being able to claim a National championship would be huge for their school whether the NCAA recognizes it or not... The exposure and the endowment it brings will most assuredly be worth it

Besides when will they ever have this opportunity again? Never.

Strike while the iron is hot. Besides I'd imagine UCF is getting a nice sum of money from Nebraska for a buyout of some sort. So I'm sure that money is what's being used to pay these bonuses.

Having a great season may help their recruiting some. I doubt the act of "claiming" a national championship, that no one recognizes, does.

 The thing that cracks me up about this is that Bama/SEC fans are "outraged"......when Bama is the damn king of claiming any and all national titles that they can work up the mental gymnastics to.

One of the sites that the NCAA recognizes as a legitimate source to claim a national championship has UCF #1. Whether that carries over past Monday's game remains to be seen, but right now at least, UCF can claim it.

Bama claims a four loss season where they finished #20 in the AP as a national championship season. Why shouldn't UCF claim it?
In the 1973 NCAA season, 4 of the top 5 teams finished without a loss. The one team that finished with a loss claims a share of the NC. I'll give you three guesses what team, and the first two guesses don't count.

They'll tell you things were different back then, while simultaneously clinging to those old ass fake titles like they have nothing else but living vicariously through Alabama Football.

You realize that's almost every 4yr Institution in the US? Ohio State is one of the very very very few schools to profit off their AD.
Fuck I'm paying a $65 fee to Indiana's Athletics, $63 to fund buildings in a purely online course, and $175 tech fee when my tuition is already hiked for being Online...

The fee schedules by Unis are a scam, but not because UCF is making a perfectly valid point about the CFP Committee.

That it's common doesn't make it right. Athletic subsidies are one of the largest contributor to runaway tuition growth. At The Other State Universities in Ohio, the subsidy accounts for roughly 10% of an undergrad's tuition. Shame on a university like UCF for pissing away money they don't have.
