The Australian girl got carded for the 2nd goal for lifting her shirt over her head and showing her sports bra.

But Alex Morgan didn't follow suit.

Altidore not on the roster for the next US qualifier..but Donovan is, so I guess the medical tests on his knee came back as good news today.

Sucks for Jozy, but the good news for me is that I'll be at the game and in a luxury box!

Gordon, Alan San Jose Earthquakes (United States)
Johnson, Eddie Seattle Sounders (United States)

My thoughts:

  • Glad to see Bradley and Donovan healthy enough to be back.
  • Can't rationalize the exclusion of Altidore, who is leading Eredivisie in goals. Sure, you could argue that he's not a great fit for the CONCACAF speed game, but you can't argue for having Eddie Johnson or Alan Gordon on the roster over him. He should be there.
  • Really wish Lichaj would have made the roster- Parkhurst over him makes zero sense to me.
  • I personally really liked what I saw out of Zusi in the last qualifier and I'm excited that he's back.

  • Hopefully Donovan plays like he give a shit. I haven't seen that from him in a US shirt since Klinsmann took over.
  • Altidore has played like ass for the US for a while now. Not surprised by his exclusion at all. Klinsmann also alluded to some behind-the-scenes stuff with him that he's dissatisfied with. Hopefully this will be a wakeup call that he can't get by on potential and club production, that he also needs to produce up to his capability when he's in the US squad. There's no reason Altidore can't be a top three player in the squad by the time 2014 comes. He hasn't been anywhere close to that in the past year though.
  • I wish Lichaj would get a look too. For whatever reason, Klinsmann doesn't seem interested.
  • Also glad that Zusi was rewarded with another callup.

I don't disagree with this at all, but two key games in WC qualifying don't seem like the right time to send a message. Especially when our other options are so... lacking.

Donovan and Shea both out for qualifiers.

Also, can someone who pays more attention to the EPL than I do, explain to me why Parkhurst keeps making the squad and Lichaj doesn't? I know Lichaj was injured for awhile, but I thought he was back and starting/contributing to Aston Villa.

I'm really not sure what Klinsmann sees in Parkhurst. It kind of reminds me of Bradley and Bornstein (although Parkhurst isn't at that level of bad imo).
