I agree up to a point - that point being that I'm less concerned about team play right now and more concerned (especially in friendlies) with uncovering players that show promise, players that you might want to be in the team in 2014. From that standpoint, I think last night was a success. Cameron was excellent, definitely want to see more from him. Shea has been re-discovered. Fabian Johnson looked decent coming back from injury, and showed that he can be useful on the right side in a pinch. As long as a couple players emerge and show something useful in every game, it's progress. The key after that (especially after they reach the Hexagonal) will be putting those players together and getting good team play out of the emerging useful parts.

Agree on this point, and I'm really hoping that he gets a lot of run with Stoke this season.

Didn't realize that the home supporters were throwing bottles, cups and other items at Bob Ley and the ESPN crew after the game.

Dan Patrick mentioned it during his show Thursday morning, as to the reason why Ley wasn't shown in the postgame.

beIN Sport has acquired the rights to all ROAD World Cup qualifiers leading up to 2014 (excluding any played in Mexico). beIN is the same channel that now holds the rights in the USA for Serie A and La Liga. On the one hand, this is a good thing because now we won't have USMNT matches being sold off to random network or pay per view. On the other hand it kinda sucks because beIN is only distributed on DirecTV and Dish right now - no cable companies have signed on with them yet.

Comcast to Carry beIN SPORT, America's Only 24-Hour International Sports Network - Yahoo News

beIN SPORT, the new independent 24-hour global network dedicated to live and exclusive coverage of the world?s best international sports, today announced it will be carried on Xfinity TV by Comcast, one of the nation?s leading providers of entertainment, information, and communications products and services.

I think it's only a matter of time until the other major cable companies follow suit. Let's hope so, at least.

Donovan, Bradley, and Gatt out due to injuries. Still don't understand the plague-like avoidance of Lichaj.
