Wow, Pato may have been offside, but what an impressive finish.

EDIT: Onyewu kept him onside. Gotta do a better job of keeping these Brazilian forwards from beating the offside trap.

Level with Onyewu.

I'm convinced that knee injury from a few years ago has absolutely stunted his growth mentally as a player. He has the talent to be the anchor of the back line, but he just has some of the most awful moments.

Milan were keen on him for a bit. You don't just sign with Milan if you're a scrub.

Nothing to really be ashamed about in this defeat. Brazil could have run subs out all game long with how deep they are with world class players.

I'm beyond excited for these next few friendlies with Herc Gomez in the lineup. I may end up picking my US/Gomez jersey up sooner than later.

When he's on, yes. He can be volatile though which has turned into a lot of bench time under Mourinho.

His problem is, he likes to play forward TOO MUCH. It was evident when Madrid played Bayern. He cost Madrid the win by leaving Robben wide open on the right wing.

Looked a class below at times, as is expected against Brazil.

Scoreline may be a bit harsh- couple breaks go the US way and it's closer- but such is football. Brazil certainly looks the part and I suppose it could just as well be worse. Learn and move forward. Brazil is stout.

Shit, we were one Bradley header (great save by keeper) and a Onyewu header (pesky crossbar) away from a 4-3 scoreline.

Regardless of what the scoreline says, I'm encouraged with the second half performance. Klinsmann has this team playing attacking football, and it's so refreshing. If the overall talent can ever matchup with that system, we could become a very good international team.

The best stat that ESPN showed:

Klinsmann's first 6 games:

1-5-0

Klinsmann's last 6:

5-1-0

The team is beginning to click, and buy into Klinsmann's system. The future is very promising with rising stars Gomez, Dempsey, Edu, and Johnson on this squad.

Agree completely.

They still get lost in spacing and have moments of absolute shit touches, but you can tell the system has the players attacking in a manner like they never have before. It's now a matter of adjusting and continuing to learn the system, as well as matching the talent moving forward, as you mentioned.

So so refreshing and exciting.

USA 1:4 Brazil

I think that score line accurately reflects where these two teams are at this point. I'd like to say that I think that the US made adjustments and got a little better as the game went along, but I'm not sure I can. I think more than anything, Brazil just got bored at times, and backed off the pressure giving the US a little more time on the ball. In the first half I think Brazil made it perfectly clear that they could have the ball whenever the wanted it. I did like what I saw in terms of attacking work rate and focus out of the US as the game wore on though.

The back line is still a shambles. Brazil have a habit of making teams like the US look like that at the back, but it's one thing to get beat and another to look completely absent at times, and I saw more of the latter than the former out of the US on Brazil's best chances. The one encouraging thing about the back line is that none of these problems are new. By that I mean, the US for years has been capable of having those bad moments even back when they were parking the bus in matches like this. I don't think the new attacking style has left them more open at the back, it's just that the US suffers from a mix of weak players and lapses in cohesiveness as a unit no matter what the tactics are. Hopefully that is something that can be fixed in the next couple years, though I've been hoping for that for a long while now.

All that said, a match like this really isn't an appropriate measuring stick for this team. Brazil have five stars over their crest and a system stacked with world class players.
