U.S. Men's National Soccer (Official Thread)

Brenden Aaronson getting some good pub today on the pregame for UEFA Champions League show. Got a tough match in top 16 with Salzburg v Bayern but Henri had a lot of good things to say about him. Refreshing to finally hear more good things about American players on the world stage. Pulisic gets some chatter playing with Chelsea too of course but it's great hearing more and more.

Got the interview after the 1-1 tie post game also.

I was just about to come in here and bitch about this as well.

Lord knows Pulisic’s glass body is probably due for some kind of knock soon…

Glad we have depth, and I’m sure every national team has this, but I worry we’ll never truly see all our best at the same time this cycle. The McKennie injury sucks big time. He’s a must for a lot of reasons.

@TooTall - might be 4-2-3-1 time.

Give me this starting XI for the March Qualifiers:

Turner
Dest - Richards/M. Robinson - Zimmerman- A. Robinson
Adams - Acosta
Weah - Aaronson - Pulisic
Pepi

And then have Yunus Musah as your first sub around the 65th minute. Sucks that McKennie is out for these games, but they really shouldn’t need him to qualify. Plus, having him fully rehabbed and ready to go for the WC might be better in the long run. Gio Reyna might be the massive question mark if they do go on to qualify. The guy can’t stay healthy, but I feel like if he’s good to go, he has to have a spot on the WC roster.

Could be a blessing getting to play Aaronson more with Pulisic and Pepi too with him blowing up at Salzburg right now. Just get in

What do you think about switching Aaronson and Pulisic there

I wouldn’t mind it, but I just think Aaronson is best utilized centrally, and Pulisic is best finding the open space out wide. I feel like if you were to play Pulisic at CAM, the argument could be made that Musah’s earned the opportunity for more playing time out wide. Maybe shift Weah to LAM, and let Musah play at RAM.

So, let's leave out Musah for a minute. (I really feel like Behalter is skipping ahead with him anyway). But my thought is much more abstract. What if Pulisic Is simply a challenge and win guy. And if he's "the guy" then why not let him channel his inner total footballer. He doesn't actually play wide for the US as the 11. Aaronson does. Let Pulisic roam free.
