It's similar to basketball in that regard. You roll the defense to cover the most threatening attacker.

Instead, they looked like spectators.

It also doesn't help that they can't even get two players on the same page at once in the attacking third. They're not picking out teammates' runs, players are keeping the ball at their feet too long and when passes do come they are mistimed or imprecise.

The team looks completely lost in this 4-4-1-1 formation.

Time for Edu>Clark
Holden>Benny or maybe about 20 minutes of Demspey-Edu-Bradley-Donovan midfield. With Buddle coming on for Benny Feilhaber.

I really want to see Buddle paired with Altidore in a 4-4-2.

Backline? Who knows, give me some traffic cones.
