2025 TX CB Dorian Brew (Oregon Signee)

Wasn't it good old Yogi that said, "it ain't over till it's over"? This is really uncharted territory, as verbals aren't worth the paper they're printed on. Guess that kids can commit one day, decommit the next, or when they show up at the Range Rover showroom for 'their' car, are told it would be December before 'his' car comes in.

Is Brew truly that much better than what tOSU has committed already? I dunno. Is it worth having a bigger NIL package than what the commitments already have, or is Buckeye staff 'planning' on losing some kids to the portal later on because of $ or depth reasons. Or am I over-thinking the strategic issues? The 'mythical' recruiting championship isn't worth anything other than a high listing in next year's Athalon/Lindy's yearbook/annual. An Ohio kid, certainly, even though parents left the state. Anyway, it makes for interesting fodder for the talking heads. Go Bucks!

They offered the lowest NIL package of all the schools he seriously considered. Then, they came back with another offer that was even lower than the first one.

They gave so much NIL attention to Devin Sanchez and it cost them in the end. They blew a fast break layup.

Either way, it was likely going to be difficult to bag both Sanchez and Brew, and if you can only lock down one....Sanchez was the right call imo.

Brew was pretty much locked in and then turned at the last second. Then along the way you have both of Sanchez and Offord committed, pretty much no NIL offer. I thought the OSU ties would win out but they didn't. I would take Sanchez over anyone, I just don't think it was an either or scenario with respect to Brew.

I think Offord was also committed at that time too, which also was a drain on NIL. I think OSU would've had plenty of NIL capital if it was just Sanchez committed, IMO.
The collective dropped the ball thinking an OH kid with an alum mom would accept whatever is offered.

Offord was never happy with his NIL package either. He just loved Walton. He wanted something similar to Sanchez and didn’t get it.

uhm... details please.

I have a family member that assisted him with the recruiting process. It’s not a good look for OSU.

But I get it. Their strategy isn’t to pay out the wazoo for HS talent. But you can’t explain that to people and have it make sense when another school they’re interested in is offering the world.
