Some of you must be wondering what's wrong with Lord Jeff - he's writing about Twitter handles! Well bear with me for a moment, there is some method to this apparent madness.

First, let's look at the Twitter handles of the 21 current signees for Ohio State's class of 2018:

* The symbol following Blue Smith's handle is a set of prayer beads
** Alex Williams Twitter account is locked, which must be a first for a recruit

Now I don't remember any of these recruits: (1) questioning/challenging a head coach's personnel decisions on Twitter; (2) posting a Twitter poll asking CFB fans which school he should attend; (3) begging for offers over Twitter; or (4) holding an hour-long Signing Day extravaganza broadcast over social media.

Now let's take a quick look at the four five-star recruits who either committed to Ohio State and then flipped, or were at one time near "locks" to Ohio State:

Notice any difference with this group? The self-aggrandizing handles ... the ALL CAPS screaming at you .... no reference to the actual person, just a puffed up Twitter personality. You think that there just might be some ego issues with this group?

Props to Emory Jones, who is simply Emory Jones on Twitter. Ultimately, he did not sign with Ohio State but he handled himself well throughout the process - no outrageous Tweets, no look-at-me voguing, no SHOCK THE WORLD IN ALL CAPS manifestos, no demands to respect MY decision. Things didn't work out with Ohio State, and both parties quietly moved on. Credit where credit is due.

Signing Day gives kids their fifteen minutes of fame. Now they have four years to earn some real lasting fame on the football field. God luck to them all.

This early signing period has made this type of thing even worse IMO. I agree with Urban regarding his displeasure of the shortened windows for recruiting. I'm not sure if twitter handle analysis is the causal factor but i do agree there are several indications from each of those recruits (except Cox IMO) that point to red flags i'm glad tOSU has avoided.

i have absolutely no idea what you could possibly be referring to here.
As I said... no coincidences lol. Hilarious though that these things just simply add up when you look at how striking the similarities are with the 3 we lost today.

UFM as I said normally doesn't lose kids like this and I really think If he wanted them enough they'd each be buckeyes right now

Let's not forget that Urban almost tossed Cantguardmike out of the program before he got his head screwed on straight.

The best way to deal with oversized egos is not to let them into your program in the first place. It's a different culture now.
Also, I do believe he was a Fickell recruit. His commit date is listed as 10/31/11 and if I recall, Meyer, when he was hired, decided to honor the then current verbals.... which is to say, in other circumstances, maybe he wouldn't have pursued Thomas. (which, in retrospect, is kinda hard to think, lol)

LJB post to start this thread is valid. Not so much just in terms of Twitter handles as much as the content.

As a statement of social media I just absolutely don’t understand why people feel compelled to put so much out for consumption. I mean, damn why run your mouth off for everyone to see about every little thing? Just makes zero sense to me. But whatever.

Of course, when your actual name is "Master W. Teague III", you really don't need to aggrandize it even if you do have a big ego (I know that all indications are that he doesn't). IMO, you also typically need A FEW big egos on the team to take things to the very top of the heap. E.g., I doubt that OU is really sweating Mayfield's antics much, and even with all the serious b.s. we're still glad that Maurice Clarett decided to play for tOSU in 2002.
