Gold Pants
I re-watched Saturday's game and really think that the team had a turning point against MSU. You could see it on Urban's face after the game. I really believe he had some serious doubts that we were going to be able to come away with a victory in East Lansing. After the game the look on his face was more than a look of relief but a look of great accomplishment. He saw something in his team that brought a smile to his face. And the fact is, he couldn't stop smiling.

WHY? There was a birth of something new that he had not yet seen since his arrival to Columbus.

The reality is that if it wasn't for the turnover's the game isn't all that close. I know that if, "if's and buts were candy and nut's...." But Saturday showed something we haven't seen all season. And we certainly did not see last year: THE HEART OF A CHAMPION. That has been what was missing ever since Tress left. We were gutted and lost the heart of a champion and everyone knows it. I think the team found it again on a Fall day in East Lansing when it faced a good team and great defense in a very hostile environment.

"Open your hearts to this challenge" Urban told the Offense with 4 minutes left in the game, only up by one point.

The heart of a champion was seen when Braxton Miller went down twice but got up to continue a very physical game. He refused to quit. The heart of a champion was seen when MSU went ahead and Devin Smith went on a streak route and caught a 60+ yd pass for a TD. Again, the refusal to give up. The heart of a champion was seen by Williams, Shazier, BINO and others as they came on blitz after blitz and forced one errant throw after another. You could see they were determined not to give this one away. And most of all the heart of a champion was seen when with 4 minutes left to play the Offensive Line took over the game and Carlos Hyde refused to give the ball back to Sparty saying to MSU: "Our hearts are bigger than yours."

We saw a birth of something yesterday that along with Urban Meyer makes me smile today. We saw the return of Ohio State football. The Silver Bullets are back. We have a phenom at QB. And we have a coach who not only knows how to win games but championships. The future is bright and this victory will go a long, long way in continuing to move this team forward where we are once again amongst the elite of college football.

Cheers my friends! Happy Day's are here again...

It's pretty amazing to think about the turn around this team has made since last year. MSU last year completely dominated us although they only won by 3 we could not move the ball at all. I think MSU lost a safety and Worthy on defense thats it and we gained almost 400 yards on them yesterday. I give all the credit in the world to Herman and Meyer. The defense still seems to be a little weak but I can't complain when they hold Bell to 45 yards.

The Defense has really seemed to make a marked improvement the last couple games. I like that we are being more aggressive at getting at the QB. And the LB's played lights out on Saturday. Really impressed with both Shazier and Bino's play against MSU.

I think next week is going to tell us how right you are, and I really hope you're right.:)

Think this game showed us that the intensity and concentration just wasn't there the first 4 games. If we can play with that level of effort the next 7 games, I think there's a good chance we go 12-0 assuming Braxton is in 1 piece.

Maybe it has something to do with the game time and half the stadium is asleep as well for noon games, no clue but am happy we found it and hopefully build off this game. We definitely took a step forward, need to take another on Saturday and think we can become a very good team this year. As of now, I'd call us a decent team.

Well done! This post sums up exactly what my thoughts were after the game on Saturday. I too saw a spark out of this team in that win. I think our program got its mojo back in East Lansing.

Well put, "phatdaddy"

This thing is certainly moving in the right direction.

The way that I'll always see it goes like this. Jim Tressel was THE best Coach that we could have ever hoped for at TOSU. Urban Meyer is THE best coach in all of CFB. Considering the circumstances, I'll take what we've got!:oh:

Peace

I like this thread.

I simply stopped reading anything of the form "position group X played horrible", "coach Y doesn't know anything".

To my figuring, we have the best coach in the world (2 titles, age 48), perhaps only rivaled by Saban (3 titles, age 60).

tSUN's luster has fallen, along with PSU's luster.

The team is taking steps.

It doesn't get any better than this.

Being eligible, and winning a NC would make it better.

Ohio State having the best coach in the Big Ten/top 3-5 in the nation isn't anything new. It's been that way for awhile now.

Not to worry........last Saturday's game & Meyer's presser scream out loud that it's coming, sooner than later. Exciting as hell...UFM is the greatest....a drink of cold water on the desert! :banger:

Gotta live in the moment. What is presently happening at tOSU is special. With Urban at the helm, top 5 recruiting classes, an undefeated team with the possibility of an undefeated season, a team that seems to have turned the corner, a Heisman contender at QB....all things that should bring a smile to our faces.

Yeppers! I saw Urban's grin from 5000 miles away (at 0230 am for me too). It was a "they got it" look. They figured some things out and played as units finally.

Somewhere between UAB & MSU the Bucks had their AHA! moment. Now lets see if that continues. Sadly I will be fast asleep for the Huskers being 7 hrs ahead of Eastern. Maybe.
