Turkey: Oven-cooked or deep-fried? Plus Cooking Tips

Genetics isn't that bad. Punnet Squares, dominant, recessive, chromosomes, etc...

Wait until you get to Chemistry! :roll1:

Believe me, I won't take Chemistry. I only need 3 years of science to graduate and I rather take Physics. I just don't like science period, I may have a B in it right now, but I just have a dislike for it. I don't know whats up with my teacher but the class is not genetics, its biology, but apparently she wanted to be a genetics doctor when she grew up, so she feels the need to teach every one genetics. About 9/10 of the stuff we have done this year has dealt with chromosomes.

You know, I cook a damn good bird, and I'd never even heard of brining a turkey until now.

FWIW... Some people go way too far with marinades, rubs, sauces, and other junk. Before long, it doesn't even taste like turkey or steak or whatever it is being cooked.

I prefer deep-fried turkey, but I have a second-floor and no place to put a real deep fryer. So, I roast it in the oven. Salt, pepper, poultry seasoning, butter. Just don't overcook.

And Thump, you heat the oil first - just like deep-frying anything else.

I totally agree, I want my Turkey to taste like turkey, not a taco.

I figured that was the case but just wasn't sure since you are cooking something so large.

deep fried turkey is da bomb digitiy.

I have to go with traditional oven cooked for Thanksgiving though.

Deep fried is good for party situations....such as OSU vs. Michigan, OSU Bowl Game, Daytona 500, uncle getting out of prison, etc.

Sadly I've never had a deep fired turkey. I've always wanted one, it looks so good. Every year I see them cooking them on the Food Network channel and they just make me want one(and very hungry). But we don't have all the stuff to cook the turkey like that. And I'm about the only one in my family that has shown any interest what so ever. So it looks like I won't ever have one until I'm older and can do it myself.
