I think that the vast talent gap between this year's Ohio State team and this year's scUM team largely insulates OSU from being upset, as does Patterson's boneheadedness under pressure. I also THINK, but don't yet know because he hasn't done it yet as the head man, that Day will have the troops fully focused on "the rival". That said, and acknowledging that ND is mediocre at best and that ND's offense was surely impeded by the weather conditions, scUM has started to play a more physical and less error-ridden brand of ball of late and are also starting to look like a cornered animal that is banding together against the world. OSU gets them right after dealing with PSU, at their house, and with who knows what for weather. I'm by no means pessimistic, especially in light of the OSU staff's demonstrated ability to make in game adjustments and our far superior depth, but if OSU comes out unfocused or overconfident, it could get a bit tricky.

All that said, with respect to Deace's invocation of 1969:

Would you say the same thing if Chuganov was the starting QB?

Michigan Class of 2020 QB retires from football but still invited to be part of program

Class of 2020 quarterback JD Johnson has long been committed to Michigan and is still planning on attending classes at the school, but he will be taking on a much different role with the football program that previously expected. In a statement posted to his Twitter account Wednesday afternoon,. Johnson announced he is done playing football due to a birth defect to his cardiovascular system.

“After going through a battery of tests and a complete evaluation of my cardiovascular system, the doctors discovered that I have some issues that cannot be corrected through additional surgery,” Johnson explained.

Jim Harbaugh to honor scholarship of Michigan recruit after career-ending medical diagnosis

Because of those issues, the No. 10-ranked pro-style quarterback’s college career will end before it even begins. That didn’t stop Jim Harbaugh from telling Johnson he still has a scholarship at the University of Michigan. And that there’s a staff position waiting for him when he enrolls.

Harbaugh is doing the right thing here; however, his scholarship now won't count against the 85 allowed, etc..

Re: The loss of Johnson means Michigan now only has three quarterbacks under scholarship for next season: sophomore Dylan McCaffrey, redshirt freshman Joe Milton and freshman Cade McNamara. You’d think Harbaugh will try to add another passer on the recruiting trail soon to boost that number.

So far they don't have a whole lot of "proven" talent in their 2020 QB room.

No need, he'll just use the transfer portal. After all he's the QB whisperer, they all will want to go there. QB transfers have worked out pretty well for them so far.

That would reduce the aforementioned talent gap at a critical position. Not sure how big of a cascade effect an injury to Young would have on the D either. I suppose one of the team buses could crash and we'd have to play with mostly twos/threes/and walk ons, but based on overall roster talent and barring stuff like that I'm pretty confident notwithsatnding the factors I'd mentioned that might work against the Buckeyes.

Why the rivalry means more to OSU?

MarkRogersTV on Youtube: OSU can focus all their hatred/angst into one game and one opponent, where *ichigan has 3 primary rivals so they have to split the hate and can't give one anymore attention than the other, fearing the others will play the disrespect card.

Well...... stop being *ichigan and making everyone hate you so much.

I don't know about that. I have plenty of hate to direct towards psu without sacrificing any for scUM

We'll just have to settle for a 20-0 win instead of a 63-0 win.

I have a nightmare scenario - Bucks running away with the game in Nebraska and Brax goes down. Bauserman comes in and the ball starts flying into the seats instead of Buckeye receivers. Yet to be convinced that Chuganov is > Bauserman.

Plus - despite the difference in talent, Michigan has two solid receivers, two decent backs, a quarterback who can run, and despite getting their ass handed to them in Ohio Stadium, they managed to post 39 points on the board.

Yeah, we have a much-improved set of defensive coaches and the LBs are playing lights out, but Michigan has weapons and a puncher's chance in a true rivalry game.

My bet is that Ryan Day is ready for the final two games, but I'll hold my breath every time Fields tucks it and runs.

Michigan doesn't play "primary rival" Notre Dame again until 2033.

Michigan considers Michigan State to be "Little Brother" - not exactly the stuff of a "primary rival".

Michigan Man Josh Metellus played plenty of "disrespect cards" against Wisconsin and Penn State this year (both scUM losses, in case you forgot).

Just more bullshit spinning from DFBIA trying to explain/excuse/justify their abysmal record against Ohio State this century (2 wins, 16 losses, if my memory is correct).

So you’re saying that, in addition to failing at football, scUM fails at hating?

I have zero doubt that he'll have the team laser-focused going into the Pig House...

On the flip-side, we're less likely to sleep on a top 10 scUM vs an unranked scUM

Yes. Let these fuckers be ranked #10 and talking shit. Let them stand in the way of a perfect season and Chase Young's desire to be in the CFP. Let them have a glimmer of hope. Let alumni come back and tell stories of how they still feel those losses to those anal bead burglars. Let them...
