Beating the skunk weasels in 2006 and in 2016 was awesome. That feeling was great. But you know what is almost as awesome? When they lost to Appy State. Or when they lost to Toledo. Or when they lost to Rutgers. In 2008 Michigan went 3-9, and Ohio State beat them 42-7. The feeling that game wasn't as nice as the 2006 or 2016 games. But the overall misery for that season for them was worth the difference.

Also, if beating Michigan in 2006 was a 100, beating them in 2008 was a 99.
FIFY
If they stop paying coaches, do away with scholarships, and move to a club team while they prepare to raze the stadium and salt the field it might drop all the way to a 90. As long as they are FBS the feeling will never drop below 99.

Most of us lived through the 90s and died a bit each year. Anyone who didn’t live it either because not a fan or wasn’t alive probably can not comprehend how that felt. ALL fanbases are arrogant and those of quality programs are even more arrogant, but TTUN’s arrogance is different. Many of those people truly think they are better human beings. So when the 90s happened, it was the “perfect” mixture for the Wal Mart Wolverines and the actual graduates - perfect in that they became beyond intolerable.

I know there are some Buckeye fans who don’t actually want TTUN to be irrelevant, but there are more that truly would be fine with them giving up and conceding the sport. No lie. Let them quit. Hell, they more or less did so yesterday in Madison so why not formalize it.

Rutgers started the damn sport, do any of their initial rivals care that they quit? I doubt it.

Let them quit while they can still claim more victories than we can in The Game? Nope.
I don't care if they have to get an intramural flag football team, The Game will continue to be played until we can get that edge in the all-time series.

I can't imagine what it was like in the 90s as a fan. I wasn't really old enough to start caring about football like I do now. I probably didn't start really caring until 2000 or 2001. The 2003 loss didn't sting as much as it should've because I was still early in my fandom. That 2011 loss though, my god. The arrogance radiating from SCUM was off the fucking charts for a team that came from a Braxton Miller overthrow from losing to the worst OSU team in a century. Wished for a comet to hit the state. Thank God Urban washed the taste out of my mouth the next year.

If ya'll had to go through that practically every year, it's any wonder you people have souls left. Mine would've left long ago.

Cooper was hired my JR year of HS and didn't get fired until I was married w/children. 13 soul blemishing hell marches.

You just can't possibly know what real hate for those arrogant bastards feels like unless you did some time from the late 70's to 2001.

That's why I never want to hear this "it's not a rivalry anymore" or "I wish they were undefeated every year before The Game" type of bullshit. It's a fucking war, a clash of cultures. The only way to fight a war is to love who you are fighting for and hate who you are fighting against then go until one of you loses either the will or capacity to fight.

Anyone who wouldn't enjoy every second of winning The Game over an 0-11 tsun team just doesn't get it.

More of them are starting to admit that The Game 2016 broke Harbaugh

now of course they say he's gone in the tank because he was cheated so badly but its the arrogant asses of the north, what do you expect?

Seeing a lot of Hoke> Harbaugh posts as well as few "this is who we have been for the last 50 years, solid but not elite" type posts.

I did see a "It's Carr's fault" exchange as well

The wheels are off, of that there can be zero doubt

Until they beat Rutgers next week, and it's right back on the hype train.
I kind of expect McCaffrey to have a good game and be The Savior... based on Rutgers.
Yep, the transformation is nearly complete

They want to go start a new league with Northwestern, Stanford, Wisconsin, Notre Dame and (surprise) Texas.

The Holier than Thou League

Penn State fans are gonna be pissed if they get left out

I fully support this. All of them will be in the top25, but at the end of the day only 1 will make it out alive. And people will wise up when they get depantsed every single year.
A couple teams in that league aren't even making it to bowl season... and I bet Michigan would be in that group.

I can relate. But what if their suckitude keep you out of the playoffs by a thousandth of a point by devaluing the conference to PAC-12 levels? What if they start showing The Game versus an 0-10 Michigan program at 11:00 am on ESPN2 - because it is seen as tOSU playing Central Michigan? Shit, UT-FLA used to be the annual nationally televised 'must see' SEC East game. CBS won't touch us now. And what if that suckitude somehow leads them to, finally, hiring a competent replacement? They just might eventually find a decent coach. I mean, they have the infinite typing monkey odds and all.

I used to want Georgia to lose every game. But I came to see that would diminish my joy slightly when we beat them. My enjoyment beating an undefeated Georgia (and keeping them out of the national play-off scene) was far greater than I felt when beating a many loss Mutt program in TWLOCP. Both are satisfying and wonderful events. But feeling their pain by ruining their perfect season in 2002 was like - well - like The Game in 2006 for you. That had to feel better than beating a hypothetical 0-10 scUM. Like, stomp and crush their very souls feel better.

You can't get that extra joy from tasting their sad, salty, formerly undefeated tears if they are an unranked joke of a program. It's like Andre and Dom Perignon.

While I comment a lot on schedule, B1G 'sos', etc. for the sake of commentary... I don't stress it.

Things Ohio State can control:
1. Beating Michigan.
2. Going to Indianapolis.

Things Ohio State has no control whatsoever:
1. Where, when, and whom they will play in December or January

Go to Stassen.com. under the all time head-to-head link, choose Ohio State and TTUN.

the results are 51-47-4. Ohio State owns the head to head crown. Games played before Ohio State even had an official team do not count.

That was......wow.........just wow. No words.

While sad, there certainly is research to suggest that a few of them may literally be ready to jump off a ledge.

We, presently, have the "Basking in the Reflected Glory" thing going for us... They on the other had would be well within expectation if more than a few of them aren't "Cut(ing) Off Reflected Failure." CORF is basically distancing oneself from a losing team (or similar). I travel a lot for work... and not joking, walking through ORD today, only saw one person sporting Piss and Bruise. Considering that the game was at Maddison, ORD should have been full of their colors on a Sunday afternoon.

That said, I did get an O-H from a stranger somewhere in the American Terminal... right where K/H split. Of course I returned in kind... If that was one of you, "I-O" again.

And I am standing behind them yelling, "Jump, motherfuckers! Do it!"

So an Ohio State fan, a Meatchicken fan, a Ntre Ame fan, and a Bama fan climbed a very tall mountain. At the peak, the Bama fan yelled, "This for the Tide!" and leaped off the mountain top to his death. The Ntre Ame fan, not to be outdone, yelled, "This is for the Irish," and he too leaped to his death. The Ohio State fan yelled, "This is for the Buckeyes!" and shoved the Meatchicken fan off the mountain.

Yelling? Why not push?

Just an FYI, y'all, but TTUN no longer has the highest winning percentage. The truck drivers at Boise State now own that title.

BTW, the Buckeyes will own that distinction in the very near future.

There are sources like cfbdatawarehouse.com that already show Boise to not have the highest winning percentage.

That cute little flash in the pan has already come to earth and they will soon be passed by a fair few team. They have been around such a short time that I never considered their presence on the list legitimate.

When there are numerous sources, I either go with Ohio State's position (they are silent on the subject of Potato U), or I use my own judgement.

Boise is not in the discussion to me. If they are for you; that's fine.

Go to Stassen.com. under the all time head-to-head link, choose Ohio State and TTUN.

the results are 51-47-4. Ohio State owns the head to head crown. Games played before Ohio State even had an official team do not count.

As I said above, when The Ohio State University has a position on a subject, that's what I go with.

They show the record with TTUN to be 50-58-6.**

That's what it is to me.

It's not over .500 until The Ohio State University says it's over .500.
