I can relate. But what if their suckitude keep you out of the playoffs by a thousandth of a point by devaluing the conference to PAC-12 levels? What if they start showing The Game versus an 0-10 Michigan program at 11:00 am on ESPN2 - because it is seen as tOSU playing Central Michigan? Shit, UT-FLA used to be the annual nationally televised 'must see' SEC East game. CBS won't touch us now. And what if that suckitude somehow leads them to, finally, hiring a competent replacement? They just might eventually find a decent coach. I mean, they have the infinite typing monkey odds and all.

I used to want Georgia to lose every game. But I came to see that would diminish my joy slightly when we beat them. My enjoyment beating an undefeated Georgia (and keeping them out of the national play-off scene) was far greater than I felt when beating a many loss Mutt program in TWLOCP. Both are satisfying and wonderful events. But feeling their pain by ruining their perfect season in 2002 was like - well - like The Game in 2006 for you. That had to feel better than beating a hypothetical 0-10 scUM. Like, stomp and crush their very souls feel better.

You can't get that extra joy from tasting their sad, salty, formerly undefeated tears if they are an unranked joke of a program. It's like Andre and Dom Perignon.

I don’t care what time or channel it happens on, fuck ‘em!

Nico Collins is pretty good. I'm still baffled why he didn't go to Alabama.
Are you?

Work under Saban.... country club under Hairball....

Much like our discussion of DPJ.... the thing that appeals to kids about Michigan is a complete 180 from what it is that appeals to players like Chase Young about Ohio State, or Juedy at Alabama, for that matter.

It's still like watching someone stagger around in shock after a car wreck

or the guy in Saving Private Ryan wandering around looking for his arm

they are, collectively, still in shock

Which in itself is absurd. Are you in shock when you watch an Indiana Jones movie and he survives? This isn't an M Night Shyamalan flick.

UF isn't OSU. As long as OSU takes care of business no amount of failure from the rest of the B1G, including tsun, diminishes the brand.
I find it interesting when I see y'all disparage Clemson, given the ACC's diminishing rep, while you assert that no amount of B1G fail can taint you. Maybe. But you miss the point. If Michigan no longer matters, nobody cares if OSU is a power when it comes time to schedule The Game. Nobody outside your state will give a shit in a few years if you play a perennially bad tsun. Nor will you get credit for the win any more than we did while beating Kentucky for the 30th time in 30 years.

You guys hit the jackpot with Tress and Urban, and so think nothing bad can ever happen to your program after two decades of unparalleled success going 16-2 against tsun (about to go 17-2). But you saw how Tennessee disappeared, how Texas vanished until this year, and how USC has imploded. Michigan is rolling that way there. So good luck with that virus not touching tOSU no matter how long you are exposed Jax. I truly hope you are right.

Were you not alive during the BCS years? I seem to remember Ohio State taking quite a bit of grief over a shitty Big Ten, comparative to it. In other words, been there, done that. Still played for 3 Championships.

Fine be me. I'll tell you this, I could give a fuck all when Clemson beats South Carolina. Hell, beating South Carolina is about as tough as beating dough. You know what I don't give a shit about? Florida - Florida State... Florida - Miami... Florida - Georgia. How about you pick a fucking rival and get back to me on how to properly loathe a team. I don't give a shit if the rest of the nation gives a shit about The Game either.

Attempting to scold @Jaxbuck on privilege and how to live through worse times as a Buckeye fan seems a bold play.

I'm gonna go ahead and leave the mic here for him....

What's the all-time series record now? Something like 50-58-6. If the game that makes the record 59-58-6, in favor of Ohio State, is on ESPN2 at noon (other than bowl games, I don't recall a game starting before noon), it'd probably get higher ratings than whatever game they put on Fox, BTN, ESPN, or ABC. Or CBS.

And what if that suckitude somehow leads them to, finally, hiring a competent replacement? They just might eventually find a decent coach. I mean, they have the infinite typing monkey odds and all.

Ha. So after 2007, Lloyd Carr got fired. Okay, fine - he resigned. But I think he was strongly encouraged to resign. Like, "We aren't giving you any more money, and you can't be the coach, anymore." Regardless, some guy named Rich Rodriguez was going to come in and revolutionize (or maybe "evolutionize") football in the stupid, slow, stupid Big Ten. That guy got about 15 wins and 22 losses in 3 years. Well, he's not a Michigan Man, so let's get a new guy in here. Brady Hoke - he can make sure this team plays defense. Can you imagine this offense with a real defense? To be fair, maybe it worked for a minute, as they DID win a BCS bowl game. (Yeah, possibly the worst team in those 16 years that can claim a win in a BCS bowl game. But it is what it is.) But Hoke lost a lot of games after that. And then, "OH NO!!! They can bring in Harbaugh if they keep losing! We need to root for Michigan!!!" And how has that been for them? I'm not scared of them hiring a "decent" coach. They've been hiring "decent" coaches. What they need is an "elite" coach. But who would they be able to get?

Agreed.
Beating the skunk weasels in 2006 and in 2016 was awesome. That feeling was great. But you know what is almost as awesome? When they lost to Appy State. Or when they lost to Toledo. Or when they lost to Rutgers. In 2008 Michigan went 3-9, and Ohio State beat them 42-7. The feeling that game wasn't as nice as the 2006 or 2016 games. But the overall misery for that season for them was worth the difference.

Also, if beating Michigan in 2006 was a 100, beating them in 2008 was a 90.
