ttun Shenanigans and Arguments (2018 thread)

I'm going to disagree, because we forced their down years on them. And by we, I mean Tressel. He kicked their asses when we were down, kicked them again while we were even, then forced them into hiring Dick Rod to revolutionize the B1G.

Fair point, but I'd counter with Cooper's hiring at tOSU after a win over tsun in the bowl game was a similarly forced hand.

Either way, can we all agree that the beatings should continue indefinitely?

Michigan just picked up their 5th OL recruit, and the fans are responding with accolades such as...

I'm no expert on the film but he is big, great attitude and the coaches like him.

Looks like a perfect future RG to me. Get a couple years in to learn the playbook, work on endurance, and figure out pass protection.

He's got a nice offer sheet, seems really competitive.

His rankings range from middling to high three-star,

It's the 5th OL recruit, our 3rd recruit from Ohio and Warriner's 3rd recruit.

He is indeed their 5th OL recruit. As the 489th rated recruit nationally he joins #s 128, 289, 381 and 588. Give them all a couple of years to learn the playbook and wok on endurance and they will turn the B1G standings upside down. Of course, that will still make them 4th in the division.

Worthy of note is that the 3 Warriner recruits are the lowest rated of the 5. (In other words none of the 388 best recruits in the nation have said yes to Ed.) Turning the program around on a dime I tell ya.

The kid being discussed i have seen on multiple occasions. Speed will eat him alive. He will look good against Rutgers. Will have a lot of ‘L’s’ added to his name after the fourth Saturday in November.

Where did I put that long ass post about Warriner being mediocre at identifying and developing under-the-radar talent?

Since MGoBlow was nuked or whatever, that forces one to turn to what's left of Stadium and Main for off-season lulz.....and the DFBIA provides it...

Harbaugh needs to beat Ohio St, Penn St, Notre Dame and Michigan St to keep his job. Agree ?

Says the Buckeye/Spartan troll.

I could be wrong, if I am then you must be a Michigan fan that doesn't know much about what it takes to build a program. Harbaugh is right on schedule building a very competitive annual B1G Championship contender. He built a great defense, he is recruiting well, the running game improved, opposing teams respect Michigan, and the most impressive things he did in this offseason is dramatically improving the most important position on the team, the QB. Just wait and see what Harbaugh will accomplish with great QB play. If you're a MSU or OSU fan you better be scared, really scared.

So apparently posting back to back to 3rd places B1G East finishes and then a 4th place last year is "building a very competitive annual B1G Championship contender"....

Here’s head coaches who won a national title in their first three years at a school:

Lloyd Carr, Michigan, 1997 (3rd year)
Bob Stoops, Oklahoma, 2000 (2nd year)
Larry Coker, Miami (FL), 2001 (1st year)
Jim Tressel, Ohio State, 2002 (2nd year)
Pete Carroll, Southern Cal, 2003 (3rd year)
Urban Meyer, Florida, 2006 (2nd year)
Les Miles, LSU, 2007 (3rd year)
Nick Saban, Alabama, 2009 (3rd year)
Gene Chizik, Auburn, 2010 (2nd year)
Urban Meyer, Ohio State, 2014 (3rd year)

Harbaugh in his third year: 8-5 with three straight losses to finish the season- yep, he is right on track.

Warinner specialized in reaching for talent while at Ohio State. Here's the list of his reaches with their 247 Composite overall rankings:

2013 Timothy Gardiner #652
2014 Kyle Trout #265
2014 Marcelys Jones #400
2014 Brady Taylor #584
2015 Grant Schmidt #469
2015 Kevin Feder #507
2015 Branden Bowen #543
2016 Gavin Cupp #413
2016 Jack Wohlabaugh #437

Gardiner, Trout, Jones, Schmidt, Feder, and Wohlabaugh all transferred out of the program.

Brady Taylor is a fifth-year senior who is in contention to be the starting center this year.

Gavin Cupp is buried on the depth chart. I mean, nowhere to be found.

So far, the only real "hit" among the reaches is Branden Bowen, who held down a starting job before getting injured.

So Warinner batted 1 for 8 (.125) with his reaches, with Brady Taylor still having a chance to come through in the ninth inning of his career. That's what scUM fan has to look forward to.

Warinner is a good coach and might actually prove successful at building a decent OLine at scUM. However, it won't be done in a year or two - at least not with the "talent" they currently have and are currently recruiting. If Jimbo produces another whole milk shart (through silk, mind you) this season, like the one he blew last year, he could very well be out the door, meaning Warinner will likely be gone with him.

Pivotal season in AA for a lot of reasons.

He built a great defense
Don Brown is a good assistant and his best hire to date. One could argue the only thing he has actually done well.

he is recruiting well,
as compared to whom?

the running game improved,
possibly true but it's still a non factor

opposing teams respect Michigan,
participation trophies for everyone!

and the most impressive things he did in this offseason is dramatically improving the most important position on the team, the QB.

Said the DFBIA every summer for the past 10 years

Just wait and see what Harbaugh will accomplish with great QB play. If you're a MSU or OSU fan you better be scared, really scared.
