Couple interesting tidbits from the Harbrau Ministry of Excuses...

scUM's Offensive Tackle situation is so dire, they're pinning their hopes to an grad transfer from Rice. Will face stiff competition from Texas, as they are also in need of help there and he grew up in Austin.

Also, they appear to moving on to their third TE coach in as many seasons, as they have poached Sherrone Brown from CMU. If you're asking "who?", you're not alone.

There are numerous issues with that program, but IMO, three are really preventing them from making the leap they so desperately crave:

1) Recruiting- This year's class is middling at best. Even their more highly-rated 2016 and 2017 classes were more a case of quantity over quality. Harbrau simply has not given the bump they all deemed inevitable. Sure, he's landed the occasional big timer (Gary, DPJ, Soloman), but for the most part, he has landed a crap load of low 4* and 3* kids. They continue to fall further and further behind tOSU, talent-wise, and are also falling behind the pedtards. They need to be pulling in a lot more talent than they have been if they want to get over the third place hump. Their inability to do so has led them to lean heavily on the grad-transfer market (see above). Grad transfers are typically stop-gap players to fill a hole. They're not guys that you lean on.

2) Assistant Coaches- They really need a serious upgrade to their offensive staff and philosophy. Their offense is stuck in the stone age. It looks like there will be a shakeup to their staff, but who do they get? Dan Enos, a guy who is a carbon copy of what they have now, and not what anybody would call "dynamic." Oh, and Central Michigan's TE Coach/Recruiting Coordinator. They need a Tom Herman or a Joe Moorhead, but they're not even trying.

3) QBs- Year four coming up, and the "QB Whisperer" has done nothing to justify that reputation. Now, they're pinning their hopes, in what will be a critical season for tha Harbrau, on a transfer from Ole Miss...based on the assumption he will be cleared to play. Looking at his career at Ole Miss, there's nothing that says he's a slam dunk. He was "meh" as a frosh, and though his numbers look decent last year, he was pretty mediocre against any defense with a pulse. Plus, there's a pretty strong likelihood he would be operating behind a questionable OL, particularly the tackles...they're in dire straits there. If Patterson isn't cleared this year, it's Peters, who did nothing to indicate he was the "Andrew Luck v2.0" mgoblog would have you believe he was going to be going into last season, or Dylan McCaffrey, a kid who was quite highly rated when he committed, but saw his rankings drop as a Senior...never a good sign.

I think all three of those go back to their douchebaggy sense of entitlement, and Harbaugh just encourages it because he is a "Michigan Man" Dantonio pulls in a whole slew of 3 stars every year and gets them to overachieve and grow. Michigan brings in a bunch of three stars and they think they are automatically 5 stars because they signed with Michigan and nobody has it better than them.

Yeah and they got to go to Italy, Harbaugh has some selfies of himself to prove it:
