Patterson is 47th in the country in Yards Per Attempt (8.1)
For a guy who was supposedly gonna come in and air it out, he sure doesn't consistently hit many big passes down the field.
Against the best defense he's played, ND he logged a lowly 7.5 YPA (and predictably the lowest completion % of the season)
Captain hand off/checkdown. No matter who mans the QB position for scUM is not in the least bit terrifying in terms of "airing it out"
Now if a statistician wants to take this a step further they can evaluate whether the bias is more pronounced by in specific officiating crews. I.e. If the O'Neill crew is a lot more biased than the others Michigan should refuse to play in a game officiated by them.
I'm guessing there's not a high enough sample size to determine bias among particular individual crews.
Of course the B1G should ask Michigan which refs they want and just constantly assign the other ones to other games. That's definitely how it should work and not at all something an arrogant fanbase would come up with.Might still make sense to rule out an officiating crew even if the confidence interval is a bit high.
They could just officiate some other Big Ten game. No harm to that crew.

They wanted NW to win, so they let Michigan rattle off 20 unanswered points. That makes too much sense. The funny part is that they've actually pretty much convinced themselves that the B1G wanted Northwestern to beat them.......which makes absolutely no sense at all to anyone who's not a moron. A "up" Michigan is a win for the B1G, but the conference just wants to screw them sideways on all fronts. Solid logic.
