What I seem to not understand, is why so my analysts predicted scUM to have such a top flight defense. They lost one of their best DL, and this was a defense last year that out of 13 games played last year, gave 300+yds to 5, and one school (Pedsters) had over 500yds. And another 2 teams had 250+yds on them. How is that elite? They shut down the likes of(under 250yds): Purdue, Cincinnati, Florida, Rutgers, Air Force and Minnesota... Not exactly a who's who in CFB. Now I wouldn't say that tOSU 2017 defense was top flight by any means last year, as we gave up more yards than the scUM defense but had more turnovers and we allowed 2 more TDs... It doesn't look like their defense in all actuality is as elite as one would think. The media yet again hyping up this program, and after winning against cupcakes the next 2wks. They face a heck of run of teams that will pose real threats in: Nebraska, NW, Maryland, Wisky, MSU, and Ped St before limping towards the end of the season with Rutgers and IU before The Game. I can easily see them struggling to get bowl eligible this season after last night loss, and I'm not saying this as a gleeful Buckeye fan. I could realistically see scUM only beating WMU, SMU, MD(toss up), Rutgers and IU. Now could they have a fluke game where they beat Nebraska, beat little brother or NW, sure, but I can also see them losing them due to shaky OL play, baffling play calling, overconfidence, suspect QB play under pressure, average RBs(and misuse of them, Evans should be a dynamic HB, IMO) and a defense who enjoys reading their press clippings and watching themselves on TV.

Is anybody really buying the “cramps” excuse for Devin Bush?

Sparty struggles against a MAC team, Penn State survives Appy, Michigan's last ditch effort prevented a blow out. That's all going to come back to haunt the Buckeyes come playoff selection time. Not an impressive start for the Big Ten

Only if the Buckeyes lose a game.

If the Buckeyes are impressive it won't matter.

That drum gets beat every single year. Was 2014 really that long ago? That season started off disasterously for the B1G. By the end of the year, it was, arguably, the deepest conference in the country with a 5-7 scUM team.

If a B1G team, be it tOSU, Wiscy or whomever, takes care of business, it will be in the playoff.

By the time November rolls around those will just be "W"s.

The more interesting stat I took from this weekend was:
OSU gives up 31 points.
MSU 38
PSU 38 (with 28 points in the 4th quarter)
Michigan 24

All from the best division in CFB?

Definitely a surprising start but I think PSU has been overrated from the jump and just living off the last 2 years of success. They're a fringe top 25 team at this point.

I think MSU will get it together. They're usually slow starters.

scUM is scUM. Overrated as usual.

We've been through a turbulent offseason to say the least. It may cost us early on but once Urban is back I expect the D to get whipped back into shape. Too much raw talent to play like that all year.

I still think the B1G is at worst the 3rd best conference which is fine. It could still turn out to be the best too. It's just week 1. Too many people overreact to September games.
