Mets sticking with strength coach despite slew of injuries
...In a season in which the Mets have been decimated by injuries, losing star players for extended periods, Barwis has become a target among fans, especially after a video was produced before the season that showed Yoenis Cespedes performing 900-pound bear squats with his legs at Barwis’ facility. Cespedes, who late last month was declared finished for the season with a strained left hamstring, played just 81 games in 2017, after twice hitting the disabled list with leg ailments.

Uh, yeah- that seems unnecessary.

Uh, yeah- that seems like it might be directly connected to the stupid decision to have a guy squat 900 pounds... we do realize that weight lifting literally rips muscle tissue, and when it rebuilds that’s what makes it stronger?

I mean, hell, Mike Kudla could bench 500+ pounds... and then he tore his pectoral muscle and missed a season in a totally-in-no-way-related-to-benching-so-much injury, and then he started focusing on lower weight, high reps.

That is hilariously incompetent.

Well, at least there were no weight lifting related injuries under Hoke.

Can someone put together a montage of Hoke era OL? And also that picture of Derrick Green claiming he had achieved whatever percent body fat, when he clearly hit that percent in his weird side boobs alone?

I would find great humor in this.

Edit- kinda found the Derrick Green photo, but there was a twitter post where he was bragging about body fat that makes it funnier.

And don't forget the "speed is overrated" narrative. 99.9% of the dfbia bought into that without a single question.

In addition, so no one thinks this is mass delusion brought on by bad coaching hires of the past decade, the DFBIA was convinced Ron English was going to unleash hell on the CFB universe back in 2003. The rationale being he was young, aggressive and black (helps with recruiting they said). I shit you not.

They also had fun laughing at Jim Tressel for recruiting so many DB's (you know because their LB's could do so well covering all the 4-5 WR sets that were coming into college football about that time).

the DFBIA has been the DFBIA for a long, long time

EDIT

I almost forgot the communal rotator cuff tear they suffered patting themselves on the back for "stealing" Crable and Burgess back in '03.

:slappy:

Oh DFBIA, never change

1. Let App State block a FG for the biggest upset in CFB history
2. Late hit Troy Smith to extend drive in the biggest Game ever (to that point)
3. Watching Burgess get pancaked from afar as Pittman waltzes in untouched

This might have been Crable's most celebrated play, which encapsulates his career at UM:

He missed the original tackle, but had the athleticism to chase him down a million yards later.

The dickrod/barwis hysteria from about Dec '07 through Aug '08 was the apex of their stupidity. They KNEW that dickrod's offense was going to kick open the gates of hell on the B1G. They KNEW 5* players were gonna fall at his feet to play in his offensive system at a school like scum. They KNEW they were gonna DOMINATE Tressel/tOSU because tOSU couldn't defend spread teams (a popular, yet false, narrative at the time). They KNEW national titles were imminent. They laughed off assertions that dickrod ignored defense. They laughed off the idea that dickrod's teams were soft and puckered up in big moments, despite his #2 wvu squad losing to a massive underdog, lousy Pitt team AT HOME with a shot at the NCG on the line just days before his hire. Go back and read Dickrod's thread after he was hired, no less than twenty posters here called everything that was going to happen up there almost to a got damn tee.

The meltdowns they provided us with over the next three seasons were some of the greatest moments I've ever experienced on a message board. Just phenomenal.
