ttun Shenanigans and Arguments (2015 official thread)

mgoblog used to provide some serious quality content a few years back. Yes, there was a homeristic lean, but they were pretty grounded in their evaluations. Somewhere in the Hoke-era, they went off the rails, and now the "OMGHARBRAUBLARRRGHHHHHHH" crap has them barely a speck above Beaver...

Stadium & Main was an excellent free board for football talk before 2006 with an incredibly rare blend of visiting fans. Somewhere around November that forum fell apart and the RR era napalmed what was left. The premium board discussion was solid until Rich Rod's first losses.

MGoBlog was solid and quite fair and critical during the RR era. I'm not sure if they felt an affinity for their guy in Hoke, but you're right, they drove off the rails with a smile when his coaching acumen caught up to his hype.

And in fairess to Brian and mgoblog, after the last decade, I can understand getting caught up in all the Harbaugh hysteria. Lord knows if we had a dark decade followed by the hiring of Urban Meyer, we'd all be totally swept up in the Meyer hype. So I get it. But the quality has gone way down...hopefully it returns if this season somehow grounds them a little in reality.

Now, one difference between Harbaugh and Meyer, and it's a big one, Meyer came in with a championship pedigree. The next championship The Harbrau™ wins will be his first. And while he does have a very solid resume, it's not without flaws. The coaching job he pulled in Santa Clara last year is a very ugly blemish.

I, for one, look forward to them going full emo once again.

cHoke made the scUM fan base return the arrogance and delusion back to epic proportions by his constant jabs at OSU, with the "Ohio" quips and such. He was a classic hype man type, almost like a fat, white Flavor Flav, he roused the fan base but couldn't produce. Big difference in cHoke and anyone that OSU has hired. CHoke had a schtick, and the scUM faithful dealt with it because he came out of the gates swinging with Dickrods recruits and when OSU had their worst season in decades, scUM thought they had the next coming of Bo. Especially since he milked the whole Meat chicken man thing. Ironically because of cHOkes ability to hype the fans, they think Hairball will save them, since you know he's a Meat chicken man and all...

It's because they're so obsessed with the "Michigan Man" myth that they didn't think it was possible for Hoke to fail, particularly after he (unlike Harbaugh) got off to a fast start on the recruiting trail. So they continued to look the other way on Hoke's lousy career record, his (to put it lightly) questionable decision-making with several off-the-field issues with his players, etc.

This obsession is only magnified with Harbaugh, who actually has some track record of success and who suited up for Michigan. The expectations are out of this world, and that's saying something for that fan base. I honestly think the majority of them would prefer Harbaugh, who hasn't actually won anything and who is off to a thud on recruiting, to Meyer, who has multiple titles (not to mention a current roster and yet another recruiting class that has OSU, to put it lightly, well-positioned).

The Michigan Man Man of Michigan arrogance would never allow them to admit it, but I wonder how many harbrau losses it will take before they start wishing - if only to themselves - that they would've kept RichRod.......

If I had to guess their first stage of group denial will be just that...denial (and not the river in Egypt).

They will take a page out of the Pedster playbook and torture every single word written or result produced to find a way to keep the JimBo = savior narrative alive for as long as they possibly can.

Once the cracks start to show in that wall of psychic defense, your guess is as good as mine as to what those delusional pole smokers will do next but I know one thing for sure, I'll be watching and laughing my ass off.

IMO, it'll take a far bigger epic collapse than the one jHoke had for them to even come close to admitting that. DickRod was never even a #ichigan Man, so he's validated as not being one of them, Hairball is supposed to be the Prodigal Son and next coming of Bo, he has a good number of years worth of losses before a speck of admittance is brought up. I seriously had a scUM fan tell me that his idea of bringing in so many QBs, is "Boesque", because Bo would bring in a large number of QBs and put them at other positions, that's why he was so dominant. I could only stare at the delusion. This is what were dealing with, next well hear that Green gained weight to look like the Nutty Professor on purpose so he could be an All American LB...
