Lots of insane allegations in that rambling conspiracy theory on recruiting.

The most insane? That Alabama and Ohio State are lazy recruiters who simply sit back and poach all of Michigan's recruits. Any actual recruiting guru (Steve Wiltfong, for example) will tell you that no one hits the recruiting trail harder than Ohio State, with the possible exception of Alabama. But hey, victimhood sells and the DFBIA are constantly buying.

I also addressed this earlier, but everything is cyclical with DFBIA and comes up repeatedly.

I find it humorous that DFBIA seems to think the Ohio States and Alabamas of the world aren’t scouting players at all and are just lazily offering the top ranked guys (or the three stars that Michigan has identified for them??? *facepalm*)—rather than scouting everyone and coming to the same conclusion as the recruiting services 80% of the time that the top ranked guys are the best prospects.

And at the same time, DFBIA points to the 3-stars that Ohio State and Bama do offer as justification for 3-stars making up 80+% of their class.

But the craziest thing of all is the results on the field. They lose A LOT with these players that they supposedly are so good at identifying and developing.

It is the easiest correlation in the world to draw between elite recruiting and elite results on the field and their mediocre recruiting and mediocre results on the field, but nope, Michigan is playing 4D chess on the recruiting trail that other schools are desperately trying to copy.

I don't know about you guys - I for one am glad that Harbrau and the rest of the ttun staff is working so hard to do all the heavy lifting and so thoroughly scouts all these kids for us (and everyone else, apparently).

The thing I find most humorous is that when Harbrau was hired, they (the DFBIA) were convinced that due to his success in the NFL, recruiting would be an absolute breeze for Harbrau. He could just sit back and hand-pick the highest-rated recruits from across the country, as kids would be lining up to get into their cesspool of a school.

I think sometimes due to the sheer volume of stupidity that billows out from up there, we lose sight of just how dumb they, as a collective, are. These are the same mutants that thought:

- DickRod was going to come in and turn the B1G on its ear with his spread-n-shred offense. They insisted he wouldn't run his preferred 3-3-5 defense in the B1G (he did). Recruits were going to trip over themselves to play in his revolutionary offense at an elite program like theirs (they didn't).

- Brady Hoke was going to set things right. He was a "_ichigan _an" who was going to straighten everything out after the hick from WV set is so askew. He was gonna get the best recruits because "this is _ichigan, fergodssakes." He was going to take those elite recruits and man-ball the B1G into sawdust. Nevermind his < .500 career record. He has RESOURCES now.

- Harbrau just needs to get his guys. Then the results will come. Oh, what's that? He has his guys and is getting worse? Well, that's just because of bagmen and online classes. It's not fair. Jim's playing by the rules, everyone else CHEATS!

"DFBIA" might seem like a cute little nickname to some here and most outsiders, but anybody that takes the time to look at these retards can see it's an accurate designation.

_ichigan fan has no self-reflection, no moment of clarity. He has no accountability. Everything wrong with their program is due to some imagined outside sinister force conspiring against their irrelevant program.

And let’s just take a moment to thank Jim Tressel and Urban Meyer. Tressel for establishing a rock solid foundation for Urban Meyer to make truly elite—and also Meyer for leaving behind Ryan Day. It couldn’t have worked out much better, and we are—and have been—enjoying the benefits.

It’s interesting to trace the roots of Michigan’s malaise. I think it goes all the way back to Schembechler. Not just the institutional arrogance that constantly manifests itself in detrimental ways for them from recruiting to game day and everywhere in between, but for his coaching tree, which has been disastrous for them.

Meanwhile, Tressel and Meyer (in addition to being Ohioans) both trace their coaching roots directly back to Ohio State under Bruce. And Tressel and Meyer have created many new and potentially fruitful branches on their own coaching trees.

What the hell does Michigan have left? Basically a shot and a prayer at someone new (may it fail miserably) because the Schembechler/Moeller/Carr/Hoke/Harbaugh tree is basically dead with no new desirable branches growing as far as I can tell.

I'll add a couple from the early days of fansites:
-Ron English coming back to the staff was going to a HUGE win because he was (stop me if you've heard this one before) young and black so he would relate well with recruits.
-Jim Tressel was a fool for recruiting so many DB's. Nobody uses that many WR's. Why would you need that many guys that can cover?

I'd put those two hot takes circa 2003

Their stupidity is astounding in both it'd depth and consistency over time. It's a reservoir of stupid that's as many miles deep as it is wide.

The Ron English mania was 2006. He was promoted to DC that year and their D (again, stop if you've heard this) was squashing a bunch of rag dolls and ranked (I believe) #1 in the country coming into The Game. They heralded him a genius/savior and future HC. Then they faced a couple of real teams (tOSU/USC) and their defense got eviscerated to end 2006, then got torched by Appy State and Oregon to start 2007. Ron English - Genius Coordinator, as they like to say, was a mirage.

We could go down the line of their "savior" coordinators/assistants...maybe I will later.

But the seminal moment in his return was earlier, when they had a guy named "DeBored?" maybe.

I think it was after they went to the Rose Bowl in '04 and got smoked again. The DFBIA blamed it all on the old white guy DC and were convinced that Ron English coming back/staying on staff would lead to them finding their grail/returning to glory.
