As always, looking forward to more details on the other QBs on their board which caused them to pass over the kid that was their priority last week.

Because surely the coaching staff up there isn’t just flailing wildly around desperately trying to land whoever expresses a modicum of interest regardless of their ranking.

They can’t get a good QB in this class because of McCarthy according to DFBIA. Ohio State landed Ewers despite 5* Stroud and 4* Miller in last years class

As others have noted in the thread - coaches have watched him twice in person so they like what they see.

There are apparently several reasons/ excuses why this kid isn’t ranked and I am sure the Hello post will cover those.

At worst he could be the “Don Brown special” that we got every year except A-Aron is: in-state and from a school that we are trying to “reclaim”, knows the rivalries well, AND it seems like the majority of the coaches actually got to see him in-person even BEFORE the offer was tendered.

TL; DR - Yes - trust the coaches on this one.
First of all, don’t they have brand new coaches almost across the board with no track record of doing this successfully?

I can’t get more quotes to copy and paste, but the discussion evolves into Harbaugh’s track record with lower rated guys.

Even ignoring that the coaches who may or may not have successfully scouted/developed those players aren’t even there any more, the track record is highly questionable at best.

Some question it, but the solid DFBIA base fall into the humorous loop of pointing to the underrated guys playing as proof that the scouting and development worked, even if they received no accolades and weren’t drafted... ignoring 1) the awful on field results with said players and 2) that these underrated guys didn’t beat out any highly rated guys to play... there was no one else, most of them are starters by default.

I know I’ve highlighted this before, but it continues to be a fascinating brain loop to observe.

Funny you should ask....

Michigan just picked up a crystal ball for an unranked OT prospect from The Loomis Chaffee School.

View attachment 29334

Loomis Chaffee is an amazing school in all aspects from academics to athletics to culture and I highly recommend attending this school. Excellent selection of courses, sports are above average. Challenging academics with very supportive faculty. Facilities are exceptional.

Check put the tuition: https://www.loomischaffee.org/admission/tuition

This boarding school is more expensive than scUM (and Ohio State for that matter too).

It’s really amazing the difference between their basketball program and football program.

Football Program - Have a retard as a head coach that got hit by a mail truck. They are hiring assistants that don’t seem to be great. Hell, one of their assistant coaches was MIA last year. Their assistant coaches don’t stay long. They aren’t recruiting the type of players they are a capable of and the top players they do get don’t develop. They have a shit load of transfers. Their roster management sucks, especially when it comes to DTs. They moved a fullback to DT. Their Quarterbacks flat out suck. It seems their leadership and organization sucks.

conclusion - I have seen monkey poop fights more organized than their football team.

I think you're thinking of Pickle Head at Notre Dame who promised NCs to those who would join him with the Irish. Kid looked like the Liberty Insurance Emo.
Jimmy Clausen was a lot of things, but I don’t recall him ever being this brazenly stupid.

JJ McCarthy Made A Bold Statement About Michigan's Future
The highly rated quarterback put the entire Michigan Football world on his shoulders with one very bold statement.

Shortly after signing his letter of intent to play football at the University of Michigan, JJ McCarthy was asked about the future for the Michigan Football program and specifically for the 2021 class.

“National championships come...that’s the future.”
At the very least, it was both of them.

I also recall him making a similar but separate pitch to other recruits to join him in Ann Arbor to win championships. That one I couldn’t quickly find.
