There was a time, years back, where I used to read _goblog's weekly recruiting breakdowns because they typically contained at least a few guys that tOSU was after and I enjoy a different perspective. I haven't read one in a long time because we just don't really recruit very many of the same kids anymore.

Well, I checked out today's version and, boy howdy, they're in rough shape. They currently sit #21 nationally for the '22 class with 7 commits, just two in the 247 top-250 (1 of which is Will Johnson who is no sure thing anymore). As for who they're chasing? A nice little slice of 3* Heaven. The few 4* kids they're recruiting don't appear to be trending very well, if they ever were. And they still give a cursory blurb about Walter Nolen who is a total pipe dream.

I thought all of those "young" coaches they hired were supposed to give them a shot in the arm, recruiting-wise?

Some choice responses:

All in all, not great news, Bob.
Is it just me or does this kinda seem like a down recruiting cycle for UM? There is an awful lot of 3-stars in there and not many 4 or 5-stars that seem interested. Where's the recruiting bump we were supposed to get from Hart/Bellomy/Clink? Do we need some signatures wins first?...cause uhh...if that's not happening and there is no recruiting bump this could be the end of the line for Mr. JH.
It's hard to recruit when the whole world watched your AD cut your pay and made it easier to fire you.
I don't disagree, but I got the feeling the board was all excited about the new staff's recruiting ability and thinks JH will survive this year to see what the staff can do in the future. So far that assumed future recruiting bump is non-existent. If JH's team is already struggling on the field and on top of that will struggle in recruiting, it seems like there is no way out of this hole for JH.
so we are in on a bunch of 3*s and are struggling to land them and osu has all 4 & 5*s

never going to beat them that way

When multiple podcasts are comparing recruiting of scUM to Rutgers, then you know you're not in good shape.

Nice jab by UCLA at scUM when they got Toia in the portal. He was supposedly favored to scUM :roll2:

I love the wide variety of DFBIA excuses from COVID to "they just need time to settle in" for the mediocre mostly status quo under Harbaugh class theyve assembled thus far.
