Look, we have to give them their due. Harbaugh is---by far---the best coach in college football. He just needs the ball to bounce his way a few more times next year. He is the right guy at the right time and this highly under-rated recruit---possibly the best recruit in his year anywhere in the nation---is gonna get this done. I sat by the pool today in absolute tears. The excitement of a charged up DFBIA filling the stadium is evident everywhere. Surely, this signals the end of an era.

MICHIGAN COMMIT TRISTAN BOUNDS: “I WANT TO KICK THE S*** OUT OF OHIO STATE

114461_h.jpg

Michigan hasn't defeated Ohio State or won more than 10 games since 2011, but that hasn't deterred Tristan Bounds' confidence.

A three-star offensive tackle who committed to the Wolverines on Monday, Bounds said in an interview this week with The Wolverine's EJ Holland that his goals for his Michigan career include beating Ohio State, winning national titles and never losing any games.

“After I take a couple days to take it in and realize what I really just did, and that's commit to one of the best universities in the country as well as a football powerhouse, I'm definitely going to get on the recruiting trail hard,” Bounds said on The Wolverine Podcast. “I've been pretty adamant about this. I don't want to lose any games. I want to win national championships. I want to kick the s*** out of Ohio State. Those are my goals. The best class that we can get is going to help us do that.”

Like I say every time...they certainly have a type. And keep.chasing that type, because it has worked out splendidly for over a decade now.

Michigan Wolverines (Big Ten Rank: 2, National Rank: 5)

The Wolverines are sitting with 17 players at the time of publication and the No. 2 class in the Big Ten, obviously behind the Buckeyes. Strangely enough, there are only three players from the state of Michigan in this class with Giovanni El-Hadi leading the way in terms of star ranking as Michigan’s No. 2 player in the class, only trailing quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

This class seems to have a strong northeastern flair as five players are out of the traditional New England area with three out of Massachusetts, a state that has not been known to turn out a lot of depth in terms of football throughout the years. The Wolverines are obviously hoping that they have found a few diamonds in the rough with this approach.

A generation ago, Michigan made its name coming into the state of Ohio and taking kids that the Buckeyes wanted to land but that really has not been the approach under Jim Harbaugh through his tenure with only two players from the Buckeye state in his class at this point.

There are still some big fish on Michigan’s board, including Donovan Edwards so expect this class to stay in the top-10 range throughout the cycle.

I found a website that has some nice statistics on recruiting, https://cruitathon.web.app/team/Michigan . If you scroll to the bottom, it tallies what offers a team's committed recruits have and plots them by school to see which schools are competing for recruits.

Michigan's biggest competitor for the its committed recruits is Syracuse.

Well, now, you undersold that.....

Here's the top 8 they recruit against:
Syracuse
Purdue
Penn State
Pitt
Nebraska
Boston College
Duke (this is football, right?)
and....

wait for it...

wait....

deep breath...

Rutgers.

They’re just lucky (I’m assuming) they don’t track non-Power 5 schools or else Dartmouth would almost certainly make an appearance.

scUM with another WR pickup. And good for the kid to get a free education and continue playing a sport that he loves. But in all honesty, this kid doesn't strike fear in Buckeye nation. He's the type of kid that competes in the B1G, but not the caliber of player to win B1G titles or compete for NCs. If you're not a fan of OSU or scUM, which player would you want: Anthony or Jaylen Ballard/Marvin Harrison Jr.? :roll2:
