ttun recruiting (all classes)

I just wonder how you evaluate them. How many 11-man teams can there be in the Dakotas and Montana?

To build on what @pnuts34 said, welcome to the wonderfully inexact science of scouting talent.

A good, experienced talent evaluator knows talent when they see it no matter the level of competition it's going against because performance at the time is only part of it. The rest is projection and that's where the guesswork comes in.

What a team like OSU can do though is not even have to play the guessing game. They can just sit back and take the pick of the litter in terms of current production and guys just dripping physical tools. They don't have to bet on all that many "projects", or any really. Thus the guys from Ohio that end up in the NFL but were never offered by OSU. At the time, they weren't OSU level offers.

I heard a baseball guy say it this way; That coach has more people who want to play for him than he has spots. He isn't recruiting, he's selecting.

Thanks. I get that. As a track coach who cocentrated on high jump and pole vault,it was easy to spot who could get their steps down- who had the speed, coordination, strength; and you always had specific heights as goals. You knew going into a meet who could clear 6/4 or 13/6. The head-to-head part could be used as motivation, but you seldom had the situation where a 5/10 jumper suddenly went 6/6 or a 6/4 jumper failed at 5/8.

Woodson has always been a better kind of harmless homer..... probably because he actually had NFL success he could live on as opposed to that clown Desmond. I wonder if he'd be able to see through the bullshit and prevent his kid from signing up for what's about to come.

Let’s hope not. I want his son to get abused in the coming years. Woodson meet Mr Henry. You’re his bitch ….

I highly doubt it. Charles Woodson Jr. is probably going to shut down his recruitment and commit regardless of sanctions. That name is etched in stone with scUM. Same with Jerome Bettis' son going to ND, Cris Carter's kid going to OSU, Clinton Portis' son headed to Miami, Ray Lewis' son to Miami, etc

TTUN recruiting has certainly been picking up recently. Recruits must be buying into the idea that punishment for their multi year cheating scandal will not post season ban or other limitations going fwd. We will see

The #21 and #44 DLs in the composite being "things really picking up" about sums up what level of program they really are. These are just verbals of course, these kids have plenty of time to find a place elsewhere if sanctions come down.

If the post season band is one year, it would be over before these recruits enter the program. Even if it’s two years, it will just impact their first year.

2 years would cause a stir with the more desired guys, I could see the lower level 3* type guys sticking around, but it's a instant gratification world we live in. The higher rated kids likely aren't gonna be ok with even 1 year of not being able to possibly play in the playoff, especially when they can just jump to a school that doesn't have that.

Cryin' Sherrone getting fired as a result would stir things up more as well.
