ttun News (2016 version)

Is Gwen Bush still employed, or did she get tossed in the bushes when her son Wayne Lyons never got off special teams? How about Rick Finotti, former St. Ed's coach who delivered zero Ohio recruits?

Not sure about Gwen, but Finotti is still defensive analyst. I would expect more recruiting into Ohio next season, but who knows. Urb has it pretty locked down at this point. Going to take a couple seasons of winning before they can go after big fish.

Rich rod approved of this mentality. Funny how the outcomes only seem to matter in Ann arbor, and not when recruiting nationally. Every other honeymoon period has great success before the winning.

Will it take time to be able to consistently take a few guys that OSU wants? Obviously but this state is loaded, especially when signing very very raw wideouts like ahmir Mitchell. Of course, if he doesn't cut it at safety, he will be a casualty of the meritocracy.

Harbaugh recruited well (albeit on the backs of about ten kids he never intended to keep ). He will recruit better in the future. He should stop treating Ohio like its new York with only one or two worthwhile prospects per year.

Funny thing is, if Harbaugh keeps acting like that, Dantonio will creep right in and have no problem plucking OH kids, no matter the star rating. Dantonio knows where his bread is buttered, Harbaugh, IMO, wants to go nose to nose with the SEC in their own backyard, which is gutsy but a battle he may lose more times than not(OSU knows that first hand). Ballhair is probably going to continue his satellite camps in the south, keep pissing off SEC coaches(which is actually quite funny) and think that the scUM brand will win out to kids in AL, MS, etc, and then try and cherry pick midwestern guys. Thats been my take from this recruiting season from scUM

An 18 year old high school senior in the south hasn't seen the M brand relevant on the national stage since he was in the 4th grade.

Just to keep it in perspective
I agree, but an 18yo kid in the south also hasnt seen or can remember LSU, UGA, Ole Miss, Texas, UF, or Tennessee on a national stage(and for that matter neither has a west coast kid seen USC in the same light). Yet they all finished within the top 15 for 2016. Also keeping it in perspective...

I'm not saying Hairball's plan will work, I'm just saying from observation, that seems to be his MO.

Oh I totally agree. I was surprised they didn't recruit Ohio this season. But from what I've read, this was a little bit of a down year in Ohio for recruits. This coming season is suppose to be rich with talent. If they go again without going after Ohio kids, it will be a mistake. I've seen Michigan fans talking smack saying stuff like "yeah, we don't need Ohio kids." Well, if that's your opinion, then you don't sh1t about recruiting. Ohio is a hot bed of talent. To completely disregard it would be a big mistake.

yes that narrative was parroted by Michigan folks who were working from a starting point of "well Michigan doesn't want any, and harbaugh is a genius, so thus ______"

Was it down slightly ? Maybe. Was it down enough to completely skip it ? No.

It was full of talent when compared to the trash they filled up on this summer, and the glut of 3 stars they still ended up taking. Of course, if they tried that seat warmer nonsense with Ohioans like they did with 10 oos kids , they'd be locked out of large portions of the state. You can get away with that nationally (urban has on occasion ). You better not try that with your ultra loyal high school coaches close to home

I think they've offered two kids, one of which is a physical specimen that's a bit raw in Richardson. Two offers is absurdly low for a top 5 talent pool bordering your state that has produced so many legendary wolverines.
