So five extra minutes of play means UM is burned out but OSU isn't? The only reason we're burned out and have no legs is because we played like dog **** against Minnesota and had to fight with every ounce of energy for the whole game. OSU, on the other hand, destroyed their first opponent and got to rest their guys.
They are a flat out better team in every conceivable way. UM has to play essentially a perfect game AND hope for foul trouble to compete against OSU/MSU. They are taller, faster, more athletic, play better defense and shoot better. As another poster mentioned, you don't lose by 27 (or whatever it was) because of dead legs. And if you have dead legs, why doesn't the other team?
The part in bold? Is correct.
Lemme explain something I explained in chat:
1) Our entire offense, unfortunately, runs off of Trey
2) Trey didn't just play 45 minutes last night
3) Trey played 45 minutes where every possession, he has to bring the ball up, race to the top of the key to get the ball, and then ALSO make something happen
4) Trey doesn't just do that, but last night, with the exception of Timmy, he had to pull an entire team that didn't show out of the ringer - for FORTY FULL MINUTES until he got a little help, but still he had to drag the team across the finish line
The teams that can win the BTT have the horsies. We'll have them next year, but a conference tourney is a very specific beast. Not even the NCAAs are night after night back to back.
If you only have so many guys you count on, those guys are going to be dragging, esp. if in a game you have to go life and death. We didn't just go life and death vs. Minny. We went zombie warmed over, back from the dead against them.
The play last night? Was not really excusable and I was ticked. But the play today? Was completely expect, and I posted that in Sam's thread pregame.
