Herbie just compared Forcier to Brettfavre. Must've been a clause in his contract.

The Fran Tarkenton comparison later may also have been a bit over-the-top.

He'll be back tomorrow I'm sure....

Not if Fungo has anything to do with it. Fuck Bucky.

That was one of the worst No huddle/Quick offense I have ever seen. Robinson ran to the middle of the field for 7 yeards and let a good 15 seconds melt away . . . but it didn't matter anyway because he doesn't know how to read a defense and see 2 of his receivers wide open. Not to mention one of them was near the sidelines and would have gotten 20-30 yards.

The 2-minute drill OSU ran against USC pretty much HAS to be worse.

Iowa's offense was a roller coaster last night, very inconsistent. I believe that this game is not nearly as close if their O was clicking.

Iowa's DL is very good, but the LBs are definately not good at coverage. There were more than a few short passes that could/should have been knocked down by the LBs in coverage that were caught. I do give them a little credit though as scUM seem to have opened up the play book and ran more plays out of certain formations than they had up until last night.

scUM did show some moxy on D, and both Warren and Graham are players. Especially big Brandon as he was lights out last night.

Taint is what I thought he is, a good FRESHMAN QB who has a lot to learn about the game. Also, did anyone else notice how he somehow "hurt" himself after every bad play he made? Once, when he was run out of bounds for a small 1-2 yd gain, he limps back to the huddle. Another time, when he over shot one of the slot dots, he immediately bent over and grabbed his hand and acted like it was hurt. Him asking for different balls after he fumbled, blaming the equipment. Arguing with the coach when things didn't go right for him. Standing there slack-jawed (wait, he always does that) staring a DickRod while the play clock ticks down to 0 while DickRod is going ballistic on the sidelines. The kid's ego is way to big to be out there, IMO, and he got benched for it.

Oh, and Denard is no where close to being a QB. A WR/RB who can run the wildcat, yes. A D1 QB at a major program, no.

I see scUM going 3-3 over the rest of their schedule.

Couple of things I've noticed about Tater Tot...

1 - he hangs deep balls like nobody's business. It's astonishing to me that he hasn't thrown more picks.

2 - speaking of picks, he not only throws the hangers, but he makes some terrible passes when he's under pressure.

leading to:

3- the kid is incredibly lucky on the throws I've just described. Several of them coulda shoulda woulda been picks

and

4 - because of 2, those terrible passes not being picked, gives the illusion that he's a "gamer" True enough, he does try to keep every play alive... but against more sound defenses, I would have great pause if I were a Michigan fan...

But, why the fuck would I be a Michigan fan? I mean, I've been pretty clear on the religion threads - I don't believe in hell. :p

I wasn't upset with the fact that he was being compared to NFL greats - it happens when commentators can't figure out it's time to shut up and get out of the way of the game.

I was more upset that they found a way to work Brettfavre into the conversation.

Couple of thoughts:

-The last west coast fruit QB I remember the media comparing to Fran Tarkenton was Jason Gesser. I think there is still a slight depression in the field around the south 35 yard line from Darrion Scott attempting to end his life.

-I think, as many have mentioned already, the book on little man Tate (I love that one) is starting to become clear. Give him the "mush rush", keep in in the pocket, and take your chances with the jump ball he will serve up.

-I know they don't have any pause in them but scUM fans should be concerned that the O is becoming easier to game plan for while the D still requires 35PPG from the offense to have any chance of winning.

-Anything at all happens to TF and the offense isn't scoring 30+ on anyone with a shred of defense.

-Something is going to happen to little man Tate (can't help myself). You simply cannot run around the way he does in major college football weighing 170-180 lbs and not get hurt at some point. Just can't do it. He is going to think he sees a lane, take off and some dude he never sees, who is just as fast but 100lbs heavier will just detonate his ass. See Gesser, Jason.

-So far from what I have seen of scUM and OSU my only possible concern is just the mathematics of them being due for a win. They do not match up well against us (for them).

IMHO both of these offenses ought to get mauled by the OSU D!

May the Tater and Shoelaces throw lots more interceptions that our guys return for TDs!

That is almost a guarantee. In the MSU game, Taint should have thrown 3 more picks in the game but Sparty, as usual, couldn't close. I believe two of the throws were on the last drive where he just threw it right to the MSU defense. Somehow or another both passes didn't get intercepted.

I can see our defense getting at least 4 picks with two pick 6's. With Tressel examining every ounce of the tape from every scUM game this year . . . I am sure the coaches will see plenty to exploit Dick Rod again. I wouldn't be surprised to see another blowout.
