If he lives or does not receive a career limiting injury. The way he is exposing himself to hits, the jury is still out on that one.

Couple of thoughts:

-The last west coast fruit QB I remember the media comparing to Fran Tarkenton was Jason Gesser. I think there is still a slight depression in the field around the south 35 yard line from Darrion Scott attempting to end his life.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2l6slzy-U2o]YouTube - OSU's Darrion Scott's hit on WSU's Jason Gesser in 2002.[/ame]

that is all.

Man I hate to say it. I think the Big Ten is really mediocre outside of Ohio State. The two teams tonight looked average.

What conference isn't?

ACC has Cryami and VT.
Big-10 has tOSU
Big-East has Cincy and USF(maybe)
Big-12 has maybe Texas and OU though both have been underwhelming
SEC has Florida and Alabama
Pac-10 has USC and Oregon

I don't think our middle of the pack teams are any worse than the other conferences'.

So let me get this straight--UM has the ball and needs to drive about 50 or so yards for a game winning field goal with very little time and one timeout, and RR chooses to put in Robinson as QB instead of Forcier?

Was RR not paying attention to the games in which Forcier moved his team down the field in the final minutes? Was RR not paying attention to the fact that Robinson has shown just about zero ability to pass the ball?

I can't wait to hear the blind RR supporters try to justify this decision. Master in-game coach, indeed.

Rich Rod went with the hot hand. I don't blame him Tate did not have it tonight, why not go with the guy who got you your last touchdown.

Wow. Um, why not go with the guy who has shown an ability to score on last minute drives? And your reasoning that "Tate did not have it tonight" is unconvincing--he was terrible in the MSU game until that last drive to send the game into OT. Then again, why would I expect you to do anything but question the infallible RR?

I don't blame him for using Denard. I do blame him for asking him to sit in the pocket and pass downfield.

UM is fortunate that the next game is an automatic win, or it would be interesting to see how the QB rotation dynamic played out.

There wasn't time for him to do anything but sit in the pocket and pass downfield (UM got the ball at their own 17 with 1:30 to go and 1 timeout left). The situation dictated downfield pocket passing. Hence, Robinson over Forcier was a bad choice.

Did I miss something? Didn't Michigan lose? Seems to me like Robinson was the perfect choice.

They picked up 21 yds in :35 seconds. They only needed another 25 yds in the remaining minute, and had 2nd & short. They could easily have picked up another first down, stopped the clock, and set up their next play while the chains reset.

Tate has enough trouble seeing over the line, but he has a decade of schooling at the position. Denard is a runner. At least roll him out and give him an option to tuck it, throw it or even throw it away.

Brian at mgoblog weighs in on the decision to go with Robinson instead of Forcier on the last drive:

there were a ton of good reasons to make the move that don't come close to outweighing the enormous one that argued against it. If Michigan had gotten that onside kick and Robinson had three minutes to work with, okay. With 1:40 on the clock, no timeouts, and sixty yards to go, no.

Sad Pandas | mgoblog

I thought that UM had one timeout left when they got the ball back, but a screenshot shows that they actually had zero, even more supporting my claim that RR had no business going with Robinson over Forcier. (The same screenshot shows that there actually was only 1:30 left when UM got the ball, not 1:40, as mgoblog says.)
