TSUN +0.5 at tOSU (ov/un xxx.5) Sun 1:30 CBS

This win is definitely the high point of OSU's season so far. Hopefully it won't be the high point at the end of the year, but it might be. Hopefully OSU can keep building from this. If they can get a win next weekend at MSU, they have a relatively easy stretch after that where they can pile up some wins. I would like to see OSU trying to push it in transition more to avoid getting bogged down in the halfcourt offense and be smarter about trying to draw fouls when they're on the break. Thompson's dunk attempt where he picked up a charge on a fast break when OSU had an advantage, I didn't like it - you don't just run straight into a set defender. This team is kind of playing with a hand behind their back because they don't know how to draw fouls and get to the FT line and that is a skill that could really help this team offensively when they get bogged down.

Brando was in rare form today, just about every factoid he was saying about the OSU players seemed to be wrong. From saying Thomas was a sophomore, to saying Thompson played at Milton in Chicago. And of course Kellogg dropped the irritating (but strangely popular among announcers) "Deshaun Thompson" ... Deshaun Thompson is the TV announcers' new Greg Odom.

Just finished watching the game on the DVR since I was at work earlier. Finally something good after a hell of a day at work and just in general. I always enjoy a win over those fucking skunkbears, but spoiling their shot at #1...oh hell yes!

Fuck scUM! :oh:

Great to see the Buckeyes start like a team on fire, but sad to see them 'hang on' to the end. Guess it's the better position to be in, though. OK, I am officially changing my position on Deshaun Thomas. I thought he was strictly a gunner, or 'thirsty for the basket' as the announcers call it.

He played a good-to-great all around game, and followed into the kill zone (the paint) to follow up, when other superstars would have faded back to defense, and that impressed me. Craft continues to impress, although he's not a great second banana, but a great feeder, and fourth look. Meatchicken was slacking off of him to cover the other scorers, and Craft hurt them with his medium range jumper.

Sam I am is simply wow. When he gets an all-around game, he'll be phenominal. Loved Matta's substitution with Ravenal and Amir. It always seemed to work. Baseline defense on the toss-in, huh? That's a sin in basketball, to give the opponents an easy bucket.

At the end of the day, there's no unbeatens now, and the B10 continues to eat it's own by beating the higher ranked teams. Minny is the leader? Wow. Who woulda thunk it. B10 will be strong in the Big Dance, and will put their maximum in, and I'm predicting 3 of the elite 8 to be B10 teams.

What I saw was that for the first time in big games the team didnt fold up when the pressure was applied but kept their poise enough to win. I didnt think we were going to beat scum at all.
I think we showed some improvement.

Great defensive game all around. I was not shocked as to the lack of minutes for Q. There was one hustle play he could have made on the floor with spike losing the ball and he made no effort to gather it. No surprise he was yanked and didn't see the floor after that. If he figures it out, this team could develop into a dangerous squad. Until then, Sam/LSJr/Scott have to make up for the difference.

Also I liked the bigs involvement from this game. Any influence they can evoke down low, opens up lanes and shooting gaps. Teach, learn, execute.

Just like the ACC.

I'm betting Louisville is #1. I'd vote them there.
Honestly as much as I hate to say it, based on the year so far Duke should keep the #1 ranking. I know they won't because you supposedly have to drop a team that loses, but no one else comes close to their out of conference wins and they were missing Kelly vs NCSU.

Since 2004 Ohio State is 25-4 against Michigan in football and basketball combined. Yes, I'm taking the victory in football for 2010 because they still have a loss on their record for that game.

It doesn't get much better than this. :oh:

Tied with the only undefeated team left in college basketball as the game clock ticked under six minutes remaining, the Ohio State men?s basketball team was anything but unprepared for the moment.

The Buckeyes had dealt with this sort of anxiety already this season. Twice. But in taut losses to two other top-10 teams, at Duke and at home against Kansas, they had spit the bit and given up either the lead or a good chance to win.

?We?ve been through the battles,? guard Aaron Craft said.
Yesterday, they finally won one.

After losing all of a 21-point lead to second-ranked Michigan, the No. 15 Buckeyes held the Wolverines to two field goals in the last 5:58 to win 56-53 at Value City Arena.

It was their first victory in four games against ranked opponents this season. They also were routed at No. 11 Illinois on Jan. 5, a game that might end up as a turning point for a team searching for a signature identity it can win with.

?We showed toughness. We showed composure,? said Deshaun Thomas, who led Ohio State (13-3, 3-1 Big Ten) with 20 points.

?They hit some big shots, got a couple steals. But we showed our composure and stayed together as a team and got some key rebounds at the end. That?s what it?s all about: get some stops and key rebounds and it?s over.?

The Buckeyes held Michigan to 27.8 points below its season scoring average and to a season-low .383 field-goal percentage. Trey Burke, a sophomore from Northland High School, led Michigan (16-1, 3-1) with 15 points.

With a victory, the Wolverines would have ascended to No. 1 this week for the first time in 20 years. Top-ranked Duke lost for the first time on Saturday.

?Always satisfaction in denying Michigan the No. 1 spot in the country,? Evan Ravenel said. ?Always.?
