Triple Crown (Kentucky Derby/Preakness/Belmont)

This almost has to be fake/scripted. But what an amazing ride as jockey Sonny Leon weaved his way through traffic, and once he got Rich Strike some open turf the horse took home the Roses. Incredible!

Come to think of it, this kind of reminds me of a TreVeyon Henderson TD run: Sets up blockers ... finds a crease ... gets to second level ... cuts outside ... splits two defenders ... turns on the jets ... PAYDIRT!!!

There will be no Triple Crown winner this year:

Preakness Stakes 2022: Rich Strike, Kentucky Derby winner, will not compete in race

Just days after Rich Strike's improbable upset win in the Kentucky Derby, owner Rick Dawson announced that the horse would not compete in the upcoming Preakness Stakes. Rich Strike's withdrawal from Preakness on May 21 will end the horse's chances at going for the Triple Crown.

Rich Strike's spectacular victory in the Derby, in which he surged out of mid-pack to win at 80-1 odds, created a somewhat unforeseen scenario. The horse was not even listed to participate in the race 24 hours beforehand.

The choice to skip the Preakness was made in the interest of rest and recovery for the horse, Dawson said.

I wasn't too mad, weak field made for a pretty enjoyable race overall. And no horse died during the actual running! (I think........)

There are some weird things going on there and I don't have the faintest idea why or even a theory

So here’s my text telling friends if they want a long shot, go Mage. Guess who didn’t listen to his own advice?

I’m a stooge.
