Trey DePriest (former LB Alabama)

Scout $ - Trey DePriest departs Tuscaloosa

7/26

By Bone...Coach Cupps says there is no timetable for a decision and says he is not involved in the decision and has merely acted as a travel agent for Trey and his family...the last he heard from Trey was that he wanted to wait until after the season...

Is this a smokescreen or what? As of 7/26 coach says this then we hear that he is set to announce on friday.

Of course it's a smoke screen. It's obvious that the Alabama coaching staff has given this strategy to Trey and Cupps. How else do you explain a sudden change after a three day trip to Bama. IMHO Trey has probably given a silent verbal to Alabama. Good for him, I hope he is happy.

OSU will go on and survive despite this. By the way even if Trey were to have silently commit to Bama, alot can happen between now and the end of his season..... Seems like people are recently gunning for Saban and his tactics so you never know... Alot can happen boys, the NCAA seems to be busier by the day....

Back off this kid!!! He hasn't said a word yet and you are totally giving up on him. This has to be the third time we have him commited at bama. Let him have fun during his recruitment and then let him decide without all this negative vibes toward him. If he comes to OSU, it will be excellent watching him play on Saturdays, and if not...oh well.

I felt pretty good after listening to the interview with his mother... I also am trying to read into it... that Cupps seems to have been relegated to secondary status.. and Mom popped back into lead dog...

She made strong mention of the 9 hr car ride for Mom and grandparents... vs 45 minutes... rang loud and clear... yes, Mom said she'd move to Mobile if Trey wanted... but grandparents ain't going anywhere...

That trip could have convinced him Bama was the place to be... or that grueling ride down and back could have been just as convincing...

Ain't saying we get him... but feeling better than I did...

Agree with this feeling, but everyone seems to be thinking Tide... Friday we'll know...

Desire to announce earlier, to me, means one of two things. Either:

  • Had been leaning Alabama but was wooed by visit to Columbus, changed his mind and accelerated decision to get this over with.

    or

  • After weekend visit to Alabama knew without a doubt he wanted to go there and was tired of the process and publicity.

We'll see. Hoping a.

I don't know if you were responding to my post or not, however I have no problem with Trey's decision whatever it is. He is a 17-18 year old kid who has every right to enjoy his recruiting experience and yes have "fun". If he does pick Bama then good for him and I truely mean that.

Please don't take posts on this site out of context, the moderators on this site do a good job weeding out the jerks etc. etc.

I got the same impression...Mom was not at all impressed with Tuscaloosa. She should not be...outside of the college itself and bars there is nothing there...The ride and the heat could not have made it a pleasant trip.

IMO the Mom has stepped in. I think the update on Bucknuts was very pro OSU...Mom may be the trump card. The timing of the announcement is what makes everyone think its Bama but IMO MOM/grandparents and son are gonna have some Heart to Heart talks.

Theres one thing to brag Alabama up in football but like the recent Cupps article states things other than football will decide where he goes...to me that means family and academics...location.

This may be a Buckeye curveball if he picks the Buckeyes...I actually like our chances better than before this weekend.
