Trey DePriest (former LB Alabama)

100% not concerned at all with the state of LB at Ohio State one bit. Trey or no Trey...

Well, I am. They only signed one last year and need two this year, at least one of whom can play early. If they don't get TD they really need Price and Crowell (or possibly Turene if he's serious about looking at OSU).

There are beautiful ocean cliffs out here in Oregon that have really rocky bases. Would you like for me to point you in the direction of the best one to jump from? :shake:

We'll be just fine, whatever Trey decides for himself.

As long as we have Coach Fick... I don't care what the name is on the back of the jersey or how many stars he had as a recruit.

I'd love for Trey to stay, but there's no bad choice between us or 'Bama and in the same breath, I feel it's very safe to say that we will be just as fine.

And they thought the sky was falling a couple of years ago when we couldn't get the top QBs in the class.
Buddyguy is the same guy who said he was going to be real upset if we didn't land Montana. Following recruiting is fun, but until we start tossing out 9-3 seasons it's kinda hard to fault how the staff operates.

Wow, what used to be a place for thoughtful discussion now looks like Hineygate. Let's try this again for some of you.

It looks like OSU won't sign TD. As a fan I'm disappointed and hope they can find two quality LBs in this class. Remember that the '11 class will arrive after Homan and Rolle have graduated. Sabino and Sweat will only have a year left and Sweat's knee may not be right. Newsome is also a question mark -- he struggled to remain academically eligible in the spring.

Whoever OSU signs at LB in the '11 class will likely be in the 2 deep as a freshman and will certainly have to play as a soph. Since this is a recruiting board, I'm interested in seeing who they sign. Apparently you don't care, but that begs the question: why are you here?

We are tired of "oh noes! we're not going to get so and so! we're doomed!" posts. It adds nothing. tOSU has a history of doing quite well at LB and losing DePriest, who many never thought would be in this class anyway, isn't going to change that. It's not even August for God's sake. It's funny you bring up HineyGate, because that's where you usually see your kind of "sky is falling" post. Seriously, IT'S AUGUST. And if you really thought DePriest was coming here (aside from the week respite where false info was leaked), I don't know what to tell you. You can't lose what you never had.

I think we are all interested in who they sign. We are also interested in following the players that do come here and watching them develop. I remember following Sabino when he was recruited. I didn't think the sky was falling seeing Sabino as a Freshman and thinking "we are going to be in trouble in 2011 because all we have are these unproven kids named Sabino and Sweat". Are you saying that Klien, McVey, Bell, Durham, Hasting and Whiting will not be good players in a year or two?

Well, first of all try to calm down. Second, the point isn't so much about TD as it is about the need for quality LBs this year. OSU has traditionally done well at LB but they've had a string of bad luck recently. Sweat's knee. Newsome's grade problems. Hicks going to Texas. Turner being shot.

So, LB is an important position and bears watching for those interested in recruiting. TD is their #1 guy and I hope they get him, even though the odds aren't great. That's why I'm watching this thread. If they don't get him I'll be very interested in seeing who they do sign.
