Trey DePriest (former LB Alabama)

* Springfield High School linebacker Trey DePriest is one of Miller's best friends and was at the announcement today. DePriest and Miller are generally viewed as the two best Ohio players in the Class of 2011 and Miller said DePriest is the first player he'll work on to join him as a Buckeye. DePriest said today that he is down to a final three of Ohio State, Alabama and Florida.

Video interview with The Bank...Trey says he is down to tOSU, Bama, and Florida. He has great things to say about Bama and tOSU and says he will definitely visit Florida. He has no timetable for a decision and distance is not a factor.

I'll address this one time since it has come up twice now and will likely be spewed again...

HS coaches travel the country to work college camps. It is a win-win situation for the schools and HS coaches. The coaches get paid usually $100-200/day for their work. That buys a plane ticket and meals/lodging are provided. They also get to learn some solid football after hours and in morning meetings. The school gets cheap labor from the coaches and gets their prospects on campus.

There is nothing shady about it. That garbage needs to stop.

SPRINGFIELD ? Trey DePriest won?t be rushed and he?s going to make his college choice when he?s ready ? not before.

In the past few weeks Wayne quarterback Braxton Miller and Centerville defensive lineman Michael Bennett verbally committed to play college football at Ohio State.

DePriest, Springfield High School?s much sought-after senior linebacker, resides on the same ESPNU 150 national recruiting ranking list with Miller and Bennett. Miller is ranked No. 16, DePriest is No. 35 and Bennett is No. 126.

At last count, DePriest had nearly 30 scholarship offers from colleges across the country.

Included in that mix are national powers Ohio State, Alabama and Florida. DePriest could unofficially end his recruitment with a similar decision to attend one of those big-time programs, but he?s taking his time.

?I feel like whenever I need to commit, I?m going to go ahead and do it,? DePriest said. ?As of right now, I don?t feel like I?m ready to commit yet.?

DePriest said he wants to have his decision by the end of the football season, but he?s not firm on that, either. ?If I feel like I need to commit before then, I?ll do it,? he said.
