Tressel & The Voting Conspiracy - Part II

I just think it's stupid that it's suddenly a conspiracy that they didn't get in. Carr needs to accept the fact that if he had won on the 18th then this conversation wouldn't have happened. He couldn't take care of his business, he didn't win the big10.

The voters recognized that and wanted to see the big10 champs face another conference champ. Personally, I am bummed that I have to wait til 2008 to see the Bucks go up against USC now, I was really looking forward to Tressel V Carroll.

Oh my god, you're not going to believe this.

I'm sitting here at my desk, and Tressel comes in, punches me in the nuts, takes my stapler, and runs out of the office calling me names and giving me the finger.

What the fuck is that all about? I don't even know the guy. Not voting? I don't want to hear it.

Hell, I can't even sue him... not in this town.

Was it a red, Swingline stapler?

Carr thinks Tressel should lose his vote next season

By Dan Maccarone

During the Dan Patrick show on ESPN Radio Tuesday, Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr told Dan Patrick that Ohio State coach Jim Tressel should lose his right to vote next year in the USA Today coaches poll. Carr was upset that Tressel chose not to vote in the season's final poll, and said that coaches are responsible week in and week out to make that vote. He stated that by Tressel not casting a vote, it ultimately took a vote away from Michigan.

"I have so much respect for Michigan and Florida," Tressel told the media earlier in the week. "I just didn't think it was appropriate that Ohio State would cast a ballot one way or the other. Those are two great teams and we would've relished playing either. The respect I have for Michigan and Florida made it impossible in my mind."

Carr was not the only one upset by the Ohio State head coach not voting. "We are disappointed with coach Tressel's decision, but our oversight role does not grant us authority to compel his participation," USA Today managing editor for sports Monte Lorell said in a statement to the Associated Press. "Coach Tressel's future involvement in the poll will be part of our annual review with (American Football Coaches Association) executive director Grant Teaff."

Also during the interview, Patrick asked the Michigan head coach if he would be rooting for Ohio State over Florida in the National Championship Game. Carr gave a stern answer, saying that he would not be rooting for either team. You have to wonder if the situation was reversed, what answer Tressel would give. One would have to guess it would probably be the respectful answer that he would be rooting on the team representing the Big Ten conference.

Carr also added during the interview that he was upset with Florida head coach Urban Meyer and some of the comments he made towards Michigan. He felt that they were inappropriate, especially when he said that Michigan already had their chance to beat Ohio State and now it was time to give someone else a chance.

Interesting read, I am not shocked to see Carr lashing out, although if Tressel does indeed lose his vote it may prove to take more votes from Michigan in the future.

Dissapointment? Really, what he wants is someone to blame and he's chosen Tressel because of 1 vote, but 1 vote wouldn't have changed it either way, that's what it comes down to.

It's disgusting if you ask me, when he was winning he was "one of the classiest coaches there is" now he's just pointing fingers and looking for someone to blame, and of course, he's chosen the Buckeyes. When all is said and done, he'll have one thing to blame Tressel for, that's his unemployment. I don't care much for Urban Cryer, but he's got a strong point, Michigan already had thier chance. This is an annual rivalry, they will get a rematch, next year.

Why does LLLLLoyld automatically assume that by not voting, JT took a vote away from scUM?

A bowl game is the only time I can actually pull for a scUM team to win. Not this year. I just cannot make myself root for a whiney prick that wants to place the blame on others for his inability to simply win.
I hope that Carroll and the Trojans spank him and then his rantings about not getting JT's vote and not being allowed to play in the NC game will seem even more foolish.

In the end, I truly think he is just trying to deflect criticism over his not being as vocal as Meyer was in getting his team into the NC game.
Either way, He's making an ass of himself.

I will be very surprised if JT doesn't withdraw his name from the Coaches poll for next season. He will attempt to do it quietly during the offseason, but some yahoo will try to make it 'Breaking News'.

I do think JT has been disingenuous about this, but not in the way being reported. I seriously doubt that he really was particularly worried about a conflict of interest or the appearance of such, and I doubt even more that he gave a damn about giving either of the team "bulletin board" material. I think, with no inside information whatsoever, that JT thinks that having coaches' votes be public is b.s. and this was his way of sending that message along to the powers that be. Actually, I suspect that he'd just as soon avoid the hassle of voting in the damn thing anyway.

As for the UM conspiracy theories, I rather doubt that JT, a guy whose primary goal as a coach often seems to be the elimination of as many variables as possible, would prefer to deny a program he knows and owns a shot at the Buckeyes in favor of an unfamiliar opponent.

OK - If JT gives up his vote that is one matter (I think JoePa did away with his) but campaigning for a coach to lose his vote - that is horseshit plain and simple.

It is time for Carr to look in the mirror tomorrow morning and ask himself one question --

"What would Bo have done?"

With luck the spirit of Bo will look back and tell his protege to grow up and shut up.
