Little shocked by this. CMR has accepted less transfers than his two predecessors (Goff and Donnan).
For such a prominent position, I'm shocked he's taking this kid.

Re: Lambert, listed at 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds, is from Jesup, and played at Wayne County High School. He will have two years of eligibility at Georgia, and is eligible immediately because he will graduate from Virginia this month.

WOW, you don't see too many student-athletes graduate in 3 years these days. I wonder what he majored in at UVA.

You actually see it more than you'd probably think. Damn impressive, but not super rare. For example if Tyvis Powell wanted to transfer, he'd be in the same boat. Going to be a redshirt junior next year, already graduated.

Well, UVA just replaced the QB that transferred to Georgia....

Former Texas, Arizona QB Connor Brewer transferring to Virginia

Four years and several lifetimes ago, Connor Brewer committed to Texas as then-offensive coordinator Bryan Harsin‘s hand-picked signal caller out of Scottsdale, Ariz. Brewer stayed one season, then, seeing the writing on the wall regarding franchise quarterback David Ash, Brewer elected to transfer during the summer of 2013. (Please, do yourself a favor: reread the previous two sentences and take a few moments to ponder exactly how many generations Brewer’s career has lasted.)

Brewer landed at Arizona, where he sat out the 2013 season and then watched Anu Solomon firmly take control of the Wildcats’ quarterback position the following year. Brewer did not attempt a pass during the 2014 season, and in January he received his release to purse a new destination. After some brief talk that he’d transfer back to Texas, Brewer announced in April he’d found his forever home: Northern Arizona.

“After these wild few years of college, I have officially decided that my last stop will be at Northern Arizona University,” he wrote on Instagram. “I will pursue my graduate degree and have two more years of football to play. I am excited to get on the field again and to finally show people what I am capable of.”

That lasted all of two months.

On Tuesday, 247Sports broke the news that Brewer will now play play his 2015 season at Virginia.

WMU the new home for Notre Dame grad transfer Anthony Rabasa

Seldom used at Notre Dame, Anthony Rabasa hopes that will change for his final season at his new college football phone.

Western Michigan head coach P.J. Fleck has confirmed that Rabasa has joined his Broncos program and will play for WMU this coming season. As the defensive end has already received his degree from Notre Dame and is coming in as a graduate transfer, he’ll be eligible to play immediately in 2015.

Good kid, got lost in the mix I think between Bob Diaco's 3-4 while he was at ND and VanGorder's switch to 4-3 last year. A lot of players that played DE in high school weren't big enough to play DE in a 3-4 and had to switch to LB, Rabasa was one. It's a shame he didn't get on the field more. Glad he got his degree, hopefully he tears it up at Western Michigan and has a great year.

Wake officially adds Wisconsin grad transfer Devin Gaulden

cd0ymzcznguwzdbhnduynddiytjhm2yyzthlmtjjotqwyyznpwy3mjrkm2vkyzeyn2u1ngq1nmvknze2mmnlnzm1otq2.jpeg

Earlier today Wake Forest announced that defensive back Thomas Brown has been suspended for the 2015 opener. A short time later, they announced the addition of a player who could potentially take his place.

Following up on speculation from the last couple of days, Wake confirmed in a press release that it has officially added Devin Gaulden to its football roster. Gaulden, a defensive back, decided late last month to transfer from Wisconsin.

Because Gaulden has already received his degree from UW, he will be eligible to play immediately in 2015 as a grad transfer.

A three-star member of the Badgers’ 2011 recruiting class, Gaulden played in six games as a true freshman. He missed all but the first four games of the 2012 season and the entire 2013 season because of knee issues.

Returning to play in all 14 games in 2014, he started five of those contests.

Because of the injury issues, there’s a distinct possibility Gaulden could receive a medical hardship waiver that would give him a sixth season of eligibility that would be used in 2016. Wake has yet to address whether a waiver will be pursued.

Ex-Hokie Melvin Keihn takes to Twitter to announce move to Terps

Late last month Virginia Tech announced that Melvin Keihn was no longer a part of its football program. Less than a week later, Keihn has become a part of a new one.

Doing it the way all the cool kids are doing it these days, Keihn (pictured, No. 51) took to Twitter Tuesday to announce that he has decided to continue his education at Maryland and his football playing career with the Terrapins. The move is not all that surprising as reports around the time of his departure from the Hokies had him likely ticketed for the Terps.

Keihn was a four-star member of Tech’s 2014 recruiting class, rated as the No. 16 outside linebacker in the country; the No. 4 player at any position in the state of Maryland; and the No. 226 player overall according to Rivals.com. As a true freshman Keihn played in 13 games, with most of that action coming on special teams.

Notre Dame’s loss will now be Texas Tech’s gain. That si the hope for the Red Raiders of the Big 12 at least. Kolin Hill, a defensive player capable of playing defensive end and linebacker who previously decided to transfer from Notre Dame earlier this month, has announced he will be heading to Texas Tech.

In a post to his Twitter account, Hill says leaving the Irish was a personal choice and he has decided to move to Texas Tech. Hill’s departure from Notre Dame was confirmed by the university on August 6, at which time he had returned to his home state of Texas to begin the sudden search for a new football home. Due to NCAA transfer rules, Hill be forced to sit out the 2015 season before becoming eligible to play once again in 2016 for Texas Tech.

FWIW, Kolin Hill was a 3 Star high school recruit from Schertz, Texas.

Report: 4-star QB signee Ricky Town transferring from USC

That certainly didn’t take long.

Earlier this year, Ricky Town was one of the highest-rated members of USC’s 2015 recruiting class. Fast-forward half a year, and it appears the quarterback’s time with the Trojans has come to an end.
.
.
.
Town was a five-star member of the Trojans’ most recent recruiting class, rated as the No. 5 pro-style quarterback in the country; the No. 20 player at any position in the state of California; and the No. 127 player overall according to Rivals.com. In January of 2014, Town pulled his verbal commitment from Alabama and gave it to USC.

CFT 2015 Preseason Preview: Key Transfers

Recruiting is what builds a college football program. Transfers are what patches holes still left to address. It seems as though the transfer game in recruiting has picked up notoriety in recent years, and this past offseason may have been one of the biggest.

This season two programs look to replace Heisman Trophy winners with potential Heisman candidates, while also keeping playoff plans on the table. Other playoff and conference title contenders look to add some key additions as well thanks to the transfer process. Here are some of the more notable transfers taking the field with new teams this fall.

Everett Golson, QB, FLORIDA STATE

Perhaps the most notable of the offseason transfers saw former Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson leave the Irish for Florida State. Golson is expected to replace former Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston. The addition of Golson helps keep Florida State in the running for another ACC title despite filling plenty of starting jobs from a season ago. Golson ran into some trouble with consistency last season but will now be surrounded by plenty of talent and athleticism, and the chance to redeem himself and put another team in the national title hunt will be one worth relishing.

Vernon Adams, QB, OREGON

Golson is not the only transfer replacing a former Heisman Trophy winner. Vernon Adams is making the jump from FCS power Eastern Washington to perennial Pac-12 and national title contender Oregon, vying to replace Marcus Mariota. Adams should fit well in Oregon’s system, assuming he wins the starting job in Eugene. Twice a finalist for the FCS equivalent of the Heisman Trophy, the Walter Payton Award, Adams already has a terrific resume. Now he looks for quite the storybook ending.

Arkansas wins big on ex-USC QB Ricky Town transfer

Bielema-Jen_Love.gif

USC’s loss will be Bret Bielema‘s gain at Arkansas, and it has potential to be a big gain. Quarterback Ricky Town will reportedly join the Arkansas Razorbacks. Joe Schad of ESPN.com was the first to report the transfer news. It’s a good day to be a Razorback.

Yet another (former) Boise State DL with a "history of problems" transfers to a BIG XII school, this time it is TCU....

Ex-Boise State DE transferring to TCU

A former Boise State defensive end who had transferred to the Baylor Bears made headlines for all of the wrong reasons recently, with the latter football program being slammed nationally for its decision and questions being raised about the university’s and the team’s handling of the situation. As it turns out, another who played the same position at the same Mountain West school has transferred into another Big 12 program as well.
.
.

.
.
Boesen was a three-star member of the Broncos’ 2013 recruiting class who took a redshirt as a true freshman. In July of last year, the defensive end was charged with inattentive or careless driving and resisting or obstructing officers. A month later, he was dismissed by then-head coach Chris Petersen for violating unspecified team rules.

Following his dismissal, Boesen spent the 2014 season at a California junior college. In addition to TCU, Missouri, Oregon and, ironically, Baylor were in pursuit of a three-star player rated as one of the top JUCO weakside ends in that class.
