Game Thread tOSU vs. Virginia Tech, Sept 6th @ 8pm ET, ESPN & ESPN3 Skycam

Well, that article sort of hits the nail on the head. Decker was pretty much lost last year against Buffalo, and it wasn't just because Khalil Mack was that awesome. And I'm with Cinci pretty, more or less, the didn't get pushed around, you have to, you know, block guys before they can beat you. That's the stuff that needs to get sorted out (and I'll worry about now) before I worry about them not being physically manhandled. And as has been pointed out, once they committed to the power run game, it was a lot easier. (Oh, look WR screens work now too!)

From what i saw Saturday, the biggest concern is the interior of the line. Navy was consistently getting into the backfield up the middle for most of the first 3 quarters. When Herman saw what was going on, he started putting the offense in a position to mitigate that and we started moving the ball. Personnel-wise, I thought things improved once Hale (I think it was Hale) came in for Price. We know Elflein can play based on what we saw last year. Boren is a Boren, so although it may be a shallow assumption, I think he'll figure it out. VT is gonna blitz like crazy. So long as Herman calls plays (screens, slants, etc), and the line plays more like they did in the 4th Q vice the first 3, we should be okay.

As for the defense...well, as I said in the Navy game thread, I'm not sure we know much about it yet. But we'll soon find out if VT is going to bring a tempo offense. I'm not worried about the DL. The LBs and safeties are still a concern for me. Tackling issues reared its ugly head a few times Saturday. The LBs lost contain on the option a few times, but again, we're not going to see an offense that requires them to react quite like Navy's did. So hard to say how that facet has improved. I think Vonn Bell played pretty well overall. No idea about the CBs right now, as they weren't really tested at all.

2 young offenses against 2 strong defen. ses.
This has the makings of a defensive struggle.
I can see this going into the 4th quarter and being decided by a special teams play or defensive play.
Lol.. what a bunch of negative Nancys. Osu line started to gel midway through the 3rd . They will be ready to go Saturday.
