Game Thread tOSU vs. Sparty, Sat 11/21, 3:30pm ET, ABC

And while I'm at it. Remember when you and I bitched up a storm about the Buckeye O-Line under Bollman? Remember how we cheered when Urban let him go? And who was the coach of the O-line that wore out the Buckeye front seven? Bingo!

Mark Staten was never at Ohio State.

The Walrus doesn't coach the OL, he coaches TEs.

I can't speak for anyone else on BP, but I, for one, was one of those who bitched up a storm when Bollman was here and who cheered when he was shown the door. And I'm still cheering.

I hear all the talk about giving Zeke the ball, but the most inexplicable thing to me was the almost complete lack of downfield passing. Over last 3 quarters I counted exactly 4 pass attempts more than 5 yards downfield. No slants. You have first round talent and speed all over the field and you don't attempt to use it. How does that happen? One of the MSU defensive lineman even said that he told the secondary that they'd have to win the game but couldn't believe it when OSU did nothing to challenge them. Said it made things "a lot easier." It was like watching a team run its head into a brick wall all day. Worst play calling I've seen from an OSU team in decades of watching them.

I'm saddened by what appears to be a bad situation of eating our own young.

Much bickering, backstabbing and scapegoating. And the players are almost as bad.

Yeah, it was a lousy loss. And we neither will be, nor deserve to be, in the playoffs. But this was the first Buckeye loss in the past 23 freaking games.

Cowboy up and get behind our team, Buckeye fans! They'll never need us more.

Game results aren't always about head coaching. Today was more on Beck than anyone...

Because Urban doesn't have the final say on the calls? He forgot about Carlos Motherfucking Hyde in '13. He forgot about Zeke.

Every game result is absolutely about the head coach. If Urban didn't know that Zeke only got two carries in the second half, who do you blame?

The head coach.

MEYER TAKES BLAME FOR PLAY CALLING
When Meyer was asked in his postgame press conference if he was content with the play calling Saturday night, Ohio State’s head coach offered a quick response.

“No, I was not content,” he said.

The Buckeyes refused to try and establish any sort of passing attack. They didn’t even challenge a Michigan State secondary which came into the game ranked 86th nationally in pass defense.

Meyer said he wasn’t pleased with that plan, but also opted to place the blame on himself.

“I call a lot of plays anyways so finger will be pointed right here,” Meyer said. I have to do better. We didn’t — very conservative.”

Harry Truman's sign literally and figuratively applies here.

Everyone has an Achilles'. Urban forgetting about the running back is his.

To Dantonio's credit, he took the air out of the ball from the beginning snap. He was bleeding the clock--calling running plays and making sure his QB didn't snap the ball until there were 5 seconds or fewer left on the play clock--from the first quarter on. The guy knew he had the less talented team and his starting QB was out, so his best chance to win was to shorten the game and give OSU's offense as few opportunities as possible (and considering we only ran 17 plays the entire second half, I'll say his plan pretty much worked perfectly). His offense was able to step up a couple times, and his team got a timely flip of the field on the next-to-last drive. I'd expect Harbaugh to try to do the exact same thing next week.

Urban got out coached.
