Game Thread tOSU vs. Sparty, Sat 11/21, 3:30pm ET, ABC

Finally, this one....this one takes the cake...

I watched this from 2008 till last year. Repeatedly. When I saw it last night, I almost threw my remote into the TV...

You have bracketed deep double coverage over the top...
PlayingOff7.jpg

The safety starts sliding up at the snap. You now have SINGLE COVERAGE...THE SAFETY NEVER EVEN PLAYS PASS...
PlayingOff8.jpg

To his credit, JT makes the first guy miss...
PlayingOff9.jpg

Where's the Safety again? Yep, he's tracking the entire play because HE NEVER PLAYED THE PASS. Beck never kept him honest.
PlayingOff10.jpg

So....who makes the tackle?

So essentially what you are saying in your previous handful of posts.

A. He's run this same crap before
2. It's like he's calling plays because that's what he feels like that play, and not take what the D is giving us
III. If you aren't able to make adjustments why/how the hell do you have a job in the business?

Tebow touched the ball on every snap. Their respective frustrations were not even remotely the same.
Tebow wasn't frustrated, he was declaring his fortitude/backbone to play w/more urgency/spirit/grit the remainder of the season. IOW, he wasn't wallowing in self-pity.

"He apologized after a football game. For his poor passes. For his costly fumble. For his failed fourth-down run. He took all the blame for this one -- even though Jevan Snead and Mississippi deserved plenty of credit." Tebow took total responsibility for the loss even though his one fumble and failed 4th down conversion was about 25% of the reason Florida lost.

Which makes his declaration even more impressive!

>

This is why many, including me at times really, really dislike Ohio State football ie the incessant whining/complaining/rationalizations/excuses by players and fans. You lost the football game ~ man up and move on ...

Then why was there such a huge offensive drop-off when Tom Herman left? We're scoring 34 ppg now when we scored 45 ppg last year. While "Meyer sits at the top of the offensive brain trust at Ohio State", it's Beck that makes the play calls during the game. Is Meyer going to override every other call? Tell me, how many big time college football head coaches call the offensive plays themselves?

Whether Beck or Meyer was responsible for Saturday night, I think we can all agree it'll be on Meyer if the offensive game plan is as atrocious on Saturday. Meyer knows how important The Game is, and if he doesn't push Beck aside with an, "I've got this one," then it's on Meyer.

I think what happened in this game is that because Cook was out, and the weather, meyer thought he could somewhat easily win the game without taking too much risk. The play of our right tackle last week and the fact that we struggled in protecting the QB made this decision even more attractive. They came in rolling basically conceding that they will not be able to protect JTB so they rolled the whole line to one direction or the other and that has really never worked. They tried a couple of runs and we're stopped. Msu kept the ball too much and the chances to find a solution became hard to come by. The game went on, the pressure increased and they did not have enough faith in the passing to get first downs with the game being so tight and they didn't want to risk anything. JTB missing a couple of wide open receivers did not help. They thought their defense will get them a stop late and they failed miserably by calling bad lineups on obvious run plays. Game over.

So he apologized for his poor performance that he was given the opportunity to have? Zeke wasn't even afforded the opportunity to play poorly.

I thought the same thing. Did they mail any creative gameplan in when Cook didn't come out to play, assuming they could get by without "showing much"?

I could go without seeing 5 horribly predictable QB runs in a row ever again.

A few of you may remember but if not I am a huge MSU fan. I come on here because I love how much you guys hate the school between us. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Plus I like OSU. Definitely my second favorite school in the B10 and maybe all of college football.

So with all of that said.

Your coordinator and game plan was horrific. I mean MSU corner play has been nothing less than pathetic all year. There was not a single scenario that I did not have MSU losing this game. And once they announsed Cook was not playing my only hope was that MSU would still be bowl eligible after the beating that was about to happen. Don't get me wrong MSU is a great team and I love my team. But we had played uninspired all year. Even against the skunk bears. So to think that with our MVP down that we would put a win together seemed an extreme long shot.

From my perspective here is what happened that helped MSU win:

- MSU offensive line was healthy and all present for the second game all year
- horrible conditions made the power running game more important
- OSU took MSU lightly (players for sure)
- against skunks MSU started 2 freshman at safety, against OSU they has 2 upper classmen (who had been injured)
- OSU game plan was pathetic, I mean beyond bad

I can not say enough how bad that game plan was. I mean why wasn't OSU attacking the corners with long fade routes when they had the wind? MSU corners had been bad all year and the safeties had not shown enough speed or smarts to get over to the sidelines in time to help out the situation. I mean even Nebraska and Rutgers chewed up MSU on the outside. How the coordinators decided to attack the sole strength of the entire team (D-Line) is beyond me. The game plan was so bad that I gotta ask if they even watched any film.

And once they saw MSU was not playing Cook how do you not stack the box and dare MSU to beat you with the pass?

Honestly, it was some of the worst coaching and adjustments or lack of that I have witness in a long time by a coaching staff that I would say from a distance looked very very good.

They made it easy. MSU ran the ball all game and lined up on D with an extra man creeping into the box all game. Any real play action and the TE is probably wide open.

I will take the win. This may be MSU's season. A fluke 1-1,000,000 play to beat the skunks and then OSU gift wraps the game.

You guys will be fine. Lets face it. They were not going to go 100-0 in the B10. Eventually they were going to lose a conference game. And they still have a shot. MSU has not shown any great ability to play great. And PSU is not horrible. So OSU needs to go into the big shit house and kick the living crap out of the skunks. Do that and they are still in the hunt.

I hear there's an opening at OC if you're interested.
