Game Thread tOSU vs. Sparty, Sat 11/21, 3:30pm ET, ABC

Why would you conclude that? I think almost everyone believes that RBs need to make themselves available for the draft sooner rather than later if they are well-regarded prospects.

Because it's the talk of a guy who started out the year on an absolute tear, and was handcuffed in a game.
No EzE last year, no National Championship for the Buckeyes. In my opinion, he's the ONE guy who has the right to complain about it.

Like I had stated before - he's been saving Beck's bacon all year long, and this time, Beck just shut him down for whatever reason.
The guy wanted to play, and the ball wasn't handed to him.

If any player thinks he bears no responsibility for this loss he's kidding himself, as are some fans. There were missed tackles, weak blocks, silly penalties, open receivers missed, dropped passes, even some completed passes that were limited because the ball wasn't thrown to the proper spot to allow RAC. Our punter whiffed on one kick and was under pressure due to poor protection on others.

Was the offensive game plan questionable? Absolutely. But to absolve everyone else because of it is lack of awareness or simply denial.

Players are going to make mistakes. It's part of the game. Coaches are going to make bad gameplans and playcalls. That's part of the game too. Still though, I watched this game and came away thinking that they guys in headsets who make six and seven figures could have at least tried to do some things to work around those mistakes and limitations on the part of the players instead of almost mindlessly having them the same things over and over when they clearly weren't working.

Just sayin': WHAT A DIFFERENCE A YEAR MAKES.

J.T. Barrett's big night carries Buckeyes to statement win over Spartans

Now it's Ohio State's turn to lobby for a berth in the college football playoff -- a thought that seemed pretty far-fetched when the Buckeyes lost their quarterback and struggled through the first couple weeks of the season.

With J.T. Barrett performing brilliantly in place of an injured Braxton Miller, there's no longer any doubt who the Big Ten's top contender is in the national title race.

Barrett threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more in a sensational performance, and No. 14 Ohio State scored almost at will against Michigan State's vaunted defense, beating the eighth-ranked Spartans 49-37 on Saturday night.

I don't see MSU losing to the Pedsters next week; so I'll guess it's Iowa VS Sparty in the B1G Conference Championship. Hopefully the winner will make the B1G proud in the CFPs.

I hate to say this, but I think Cook being out caused OSU's coaching staff to adopt the "just don't beat yourself" approach. Hence, the play calling. It's depressing.

But you think for a minute EZ was going to come back next year under different circumstances? No way.

I'll bet good and damn well that if he felt that he were utilized more in the game plan that he wouldn't have thrown the coaches under the bus like he did.

And again, to his point - if he had a leg infection, and he was crying because he didn't think he'd play - why did he play at all?
That is a copout by the coaching staff, I'm sorry. It's a copout to protect one of their own for a piss poor play calling performance.

While there are similarities, that performance wasn't nearly as bad as this one. We managed 24 points on that GREAT Sparty D.

Playcalling was not awful for the entire game. We probably had more than 5 first downs.
That was an infinitely better performance than this one. That was arguably the best defense Dantonio's had since he's been there and Herman still managed to put up the most yardage and the second most points that Spartan D gave up all year. For fuck's sake Western Michigan and PURDUE put up more yards than we did against a defense who's defense has been ravaged with injuries. Like, I still can't comprehend this loss. The more I think about it the more it pisses me off.

Isn't rocket science to be honest... move the football where they aren't. Stacked the box? Ok let me go 5 wide and throw... I stead we got let's spice things up with a QB draw. Oh man we love zeke without the ball let's make him a prize fullback.. hes better with the goddamn ball than without it still

This team has been resting on its laurels all season. Being a fan I was deluded into beliving they were just playing down to competition. The truth is there are problems with this team from the top down.

The players don't seem to have the juice they did last year. Is this because they let the hype of being champs go to their head or is it because of a deficit in the leadership, both or? You can tell there is just not the same energy or physicality out there. Our lines would beat people up and now they get pushed around. I can't think of many times where our guys were just fired up outside of some big zeke plays.

On the coaching side there is no denying something has changed. The schemes are different and not working and instead of making adjustments we get the same thing quarter in and out, week in and out and this can only be attributed to stubbornness or laziness or ineptness. Is this because Herman is so much better than Beck or is it because Urban isn't bringing his A game or is it somewhere in between? Who knows...

It is easy to ignore to elephant in the room and make excuses because "a win is a win" but a loss has really put a spotlight on what has been glaringly obvious to anyone following the season... This is not the same team that won the NC and likely not even a team that could make the playoffs if it didn't right itself before it was too late.

It's a shame this loss didn't happen early in the season as it could have provided a wake-up call and left time to overcome the loss if we put on stellar performances much like we did last year.
