I didn't see the defense stop a team with 2 backup QBs from running the ball. A lot.Respectfully disagree. We need improvement in playing calling.
Didn't say they were bad, but they need improvement or else dUMb will also run all over themI really don't think the defense is that bad. They've stopped us from having 2 or 3 losses with this terrible offense. Something needs to change in playcalling, but other than that the other units have held their own.
They only scored 17....I didn't see the defense stop a team with 2 backup QBs from running the ball. A lot.
69 hurt. Since then I've tempered my expectations. The Buckeyes lost 3 games every year I was a student, except for the year we lost 4. I guess that's why I'm not losing my mind after seeing our 23 game winning streak end.
Beat Michigan.

Here are the things (and this is all fairly meaningless):
1. We still have a path to the playoff. Indeed, FiveThirtyEight gives us better than even odds of making it with a single loss. Not sure that's where that team needs to go, but nothing is over.
2. Adversity and failure contributes to growth, I actually feel *better* about the TSUN game than I did before.
3. @CookyPuss needs to track down frustrated Buckeye girl and convince her that at $10 a comforting hug available to BP members that she'd make a small fortune.
4. I don't know that I can root for PSU, I'm okay with MSU going to the title game. I'd rather we go, but I'm just saying I have limits. I kind of want to see MSU win on a bad call so I can see BWI implode.
5. Our rule is no bashing. You can absolutely talk reasonably about the play-calling and schematic failures without crossing the line. You can say "I'd like to see Beck fired, I think he's a bad fit" if you're offering that with intelligent(ish) rationale for the reason. The point being that it should be constructive criticism and (more importantly) adding to the discourse here and not just a throw away "fuck this guy."
6. Elise is no longer undefeated. I just realized this and I'm utterly disappointed in her. Slightly used and underachieving 11 month old for sale, $8 obo.
7. Hard to be mad about one of our own "Dantonio" beating us with the system that won us the 2002 title.
8. Not making an excuse; we were bad, our coaches failed, and our lines were outplayed -- that said, holy hell was the weather what we DID NOT need tonight. This is why SEC teams won't come North to play, this is when thick ankles and power football stands tough.
9. Back to why I'm just not mad, just sort of self examining here, I think it's because of our recent success and the win streak. I mean, how mad can we be? Our last loss was early last year. No one else can say the same.
10. Joey's gone, obviously. I think Zeke is too. If I had the power to make one stay, it would be Zeke in a heartbeat. No slight on Joey, but we have another Bosa coming, and the more I think about it the more I truly believe Zeke has been a legendary back.
11. It's hard as hell to do, but I like Braxton's chances of making it as a WR or roleplayer in the NFL. I hope he gets a good look from some quality teams. I felt a little verklempt when I saw him come out as #5. It's been a true pleasure, Braxton.
12. HOW THE HELL DOES ZEKE ONLY GET 12 CARRIES?
13. Friday the 13th last week, @Longwood loses her very first pick in our Survivor/King of the Hill league, Rousey gets obliterated, I said during this week that I had a bad feeling about this game. Obviously all of this means I'm a wizard.
14. I'm just drawing this out pointlessly now.
15. Next week is a must win. Not because of what may still be possible this season, but just because Harbaugh's a piece of [Mark May] and to hell with the Weasels and their hopes and dreams.
Correct. Nobody wins every game. But how many times should a team lose when they were in the exact situation of this game? That is, at home, against a backup QB, and you're the defending national championship with nearly every key piece returning. The answer is never in case you were wondering. This was more than just Beck. Our lines did not win enough battles, and when there was a play to be made the execution was too often lacking.
Sparty was the better team today. We've enjoyed 50 wins in the last 54 games and won the first playoff last season. Get over it. No one wins every game.
I get what you are saying, but anything can happen in football. It happened in 2007 when we lost to Illinois only to jump all the way back into the picture. And maybe all the other 1-loss contending teams will be abducted by space aliens, and we can win the championship by default.
I am never inspired by complex formulas that depend on factors beyond my chosen team's performance on the field.
If you have to rely on circumstances beyond your control, rather than your own commitment to excellence, then any trophy is a hollow piece of tin.
