Game Thread tOSU vs. Sparty, Sat 11/21, 3:30pm ET, ABC

Mack Brown is exactly right......the coaches and the team assumed it was going to be an easy game without Cook and conceded to a vanilla game plan.

We've used the vanilla game plan excuse all year, and it made sense, but after this game I really don't think the staff has very much in the play book at all. Seems like they actually subtracted some stuff from last year.

Not on the same page with you, @Clarity. I really had hoped that they would light the candle, but this rocket didn't take off. The coaches frittered around with the QB choice for far too long and then Barrett destroyed the momentum with his DVI. That doesn't explain why you run Zeke twice in the second half, why you don't try to open the field with a passing game. Coaches didn't earn their salaries this week. The OC shouldn't still have a job after the season.

Oddly I am relieved... We've been playing emotionless football now since after va tech. Someone stated they're worried because we lose all these players.... that's what's going to get us back on top.

Those players have never won a championship aND those players have not felt success. The talent is there and now the motivation will be as well.

This is without doubt the worse offense I have ever witnessed. Tressel wise or Urban wise... play calling was just so disappointing

I say, bring the heavy rain. I think it hurts Sparty more than tOSU. MSU's main weapon is their QB. tOSU's main weapon is Zeke, and when the defense keys on Zeke, then JT. I think our horizontal game would still be fine in heavy rain.

I'm not sure. I've thought about it, and there's an argument both ways. MSU's secondary is garbage, but have a great D line. Their very pedestrian defense becomes pretty good if they don't have to worry about the pass. But yes, it also helps us immensely on defense taking away their pass game. If it's ugly out there I could see a 17-10 game. Weather I saw had the first half being good, crap weather coming in the 2nd.

Unfortunately, my concerns cane to fruition. Without needing to worry about the pass, they loaded up on the run.
