Game Thread tOSU vs. Maryland (Homecoming), Sat 10/10 @ 12p ET, BTN

I thought the offense did great all game. We had one drive end due to penalty in the first half, and missed a field goal but otherwise was very sharp.

Thought we mixed the plays best and finally it felt like we had some sort of rhythm. We had a purpose with our plays instead of calling 8 jet sweeps a game. I'm happy JT got to contribute as much as he did because him being involved will only help us. Thomas, marshall, and Braxton I think are our go to players in the throwing game. All had great games and I thought the way we blended Miller in the game was better than we had done in the past. It didn't feel forced which is when Braxton is going to be able to thrive.

Defensively we were disappointing. We are getting pushed around through the middle of the defense and this isn't anything new. It's this fact that scares me in regards to our impending showdown with scum. I think outside of Washington the rest of our DTs really aren't were they need to be at all. I'm starting to believe we dont have the horses there outside of 92. Also on the long pass play I wonder who was responsible for the busted coverage because to me it looked like Bell was expecting a single high safety (which Powell blew). If Powell blew it that's also a issue of his as well going back to last year.

Overall the defensive line has been supremely disappointing IMO. For having 3 solid starters I'm shocked we aren't better than we are at shutting down the run. Are we too light up front?

I'd be interested to see how it would help the defense if Bosa shuffled down to DT for the remainder of the year. I know he's our best pass rusher but that doesn't mean he can't go back to end on 3rd down.

That'd give us Lewis, Bosa, Washington, Hubbard

Yeah, if Ohio State has the equal level of talent as Northwestern and continues to play like [Mark May].

Thankfully OSU has infinitely superior talent and may decide to stop playing like [Mark May] eventually. You would assume they'd decide to pick things up in big games.

Granted, if they continue their lackluster play it will be a problem. But why be a negative jackass and assume that is what will happen?

Has Kyle K been benched? Sorry man just not buying into the scUM hype. Certainly glad it exists..but I'm not buying it. I'd love to see the BUCKEYES going into AA as fucking underdogs.

When OSU starts suiting up 2* and 3* players, I'll agree with you. And the coaching disparity between OSU and Northwestern is even more pronounced than the talent disparity.
I watched most of the scum/Kitty game. Like it or not, fucking scum's defense is legit. They shut out the same team last week--on the road--that just lit us up for 28 points. They flat beat the shit out of a pretty decent Northwestern team (which upset Stanford in their opener). Their offense isn't a juggernaut, but they have indeed improved significantly and put up 24 offensive points against the top scoring defense in the country. The Harbraugh™, as much of a whack job as he is, has his team playing very well.

If we play like we did in the second halves of the VT game and today, we'll bet Michigan. If we play like we did against Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, or Indiana, we're in serious trouble.

we will be able to prognosticate The Game a lot better after next week.

scUM plays the best offense they have seen to date (we think)

OSU plays the most scUM like team on their schedule (Penn State)

we still won't really know shit after next week but we will feel like we do

Big winner today at the game was Yoga Pants and the genius who invented Yoga Pants.

Another big thanks to the ladies on campus. Probably the least fat the chicks on campus in general have looked on gameday in years.

They all wore Yoga Pants though and it was just a magical day on campus. Kind of like back in school when everyone would bust out the shorts on the first good day of weather and taking a walk through the oval.

Outstanding.

Shame the Buckeye Football team couldn't match the thunder the ladies brought to the mix today. Oh well.

Still such a long way to go and we have so much time to figure it out, but they played a far better team than we did today and handled that team far better than we did.

If Ohio State plays well they win. If they play like shit it becomes less likely they win. Insert every opponent ever.

I want both MSU and UM to win out until we play them, just locks us into the playoff. MSU might beat us, UM will not. Understand I'm having fun with the folly of making declarative statements about the unknown. OSU-UM is always a game, a game we've dominated in the W-L column but less so in terms of the on-field struggle.

Michigan definitely looks good, and I'm actually super happy about that. Strong Michigan, Michigan State, and (insert one or more of PSU, Wiscy, Northwestern, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota) and suddenly our schedule looks much less soft.
