I'm very happy the way the team is progressing. Butler is doing better and better each game. A little story for you all. When Jamar was a freshman starting point guard for the varsity team they were playing Delphos St. Johns at Delphos.[If you have ever been there for a big game, you can appreciate the situation.] Delphos decided to take out defensively Shawnee's 2 and 3 guards who could shoot it well enough that it helped take them to state the year before as Juniors. The game was tight all night and Shawnee was down by two points with under 20 seconds or so. A time out was called and the coach told Jamar to go one on one and score since Delphos was d'ing up the two shooters. Jamar looked at the coach and said, "do you want a 2 or a 3?" The coach said a 2. Of course, he took it to the hole and scored tying up the score against a team/school who had an excellent season. After the game, the head coach joked that he should of asked for the 3, so they didn't have to win it in overtime. It was just amazing the composure he showed in that situation as a 15 year old kid. I believe he would of hit the 3 if asked to take it.
I could add many, many other stories [all true] that would maybe convince those doubters who are still left, that Jamar is the real deal and has played against the best in AAU at the NBA Camp, etc. and is really a rare player who will continue to blossom since it is HIS show running the team now. [atleast more than before] It was hard for him because both Huggins and Obrien told him he would be starting and it was his team. Then, it didn't work out that way. I applaud that he kept his frustration inside and kept working. The end result is that we, the fans, are just now starting to see what he can do. Way to be mature about it Jamar and keep fighting for team.
Just for your information. If you want Jamar to show more emotion on the court, forget it. He is the most stone faced player I've ever seen. But don't ever mistake that for lack of intensity.
I've wanted to share these thoughts for a month, but didn't want to seem like a Jamar fan who was frustrated about his playing time.
Never mind, I am a Jamar fan.
Go Bucks.
