I don’t want to hijack the thread in the recruiting forum. But why do we assume JL is a good coach? The room he was in charge of this year took a step back. A noticeable one.

Because Ohio State fans love the idea of hiring players they rooted for.

This happens everywhere. I've seen USC fans wanting Reggie Bush to coach the RBs, UT fans wanting Peyton Manning to be a QB coach, Miami wanting essentially the entire 2001 team to coach them, etc

There was a time that people would just push the name Chris Spielman out there as a OSU coach, with him having zero coaching experience. Lol

Spielman interviewed for the job when when we hired Tressel after the 2000 season. Also, he was head coach of Columbus Destroyers arena league team for one year in 2005. Destroyers went 2-14 that year.

Yes. Knowles is the LB coach in title only. It’s been that way since he was at OK St.

He floats around the entire defense, while he trusts a GA to coach. Koy McFarland came to tOSU with him and they played way better last year. Koy left to be LB coach with Kevin Wilson. Koy is a rising star in the coaching world.
