Thing is, at a place like OSU, the collectives should be able to raise money for both. I’m just saying. I don’t feel like this would even be a topic to discuss at Texas, Bama, UGA, etc.Not to put a sharp edge on it, but....if what I read is halfway true, is Marvin getting $20M from tOSU NILers? Read somewhere Marv might stay, as his first round NFL $ would be equal to what he's getting at tOSU. Not denying his incredible presence and talent, but we could buy two OTs, and at least one DL, and have some change left over.....just saying.
Would really be surprised by this. I thought they would go for a 1 year rental and have a Kienholz/Noland competition in 2025.It’s also looking like Day is going to roll with what he has on the roster at QB to start. With dominoes starting to fall for QBs, and reading the writing on the wall. Gabriel to OU, Leonard favored to ND, Ward hasn’t even been contacted by OSU, no interest in Moore, next to no news on Howard show that Day believes his current roster is stronger than the portal. And if anything a Gebbia type for depth and leadership is the best bet. And theres the Cotton Bowl to see what he has with Brown and Kienholz
I think it would potentially throw the timing off of the QB room, leading to a possible loss of Keinholz. If they are big on him, this makes sense. Because it would give him the possibility of playing. If Noland comes in, then St. Clair, there is a 2 year cycle for each down the road.Would really be surprised by this. This would mean that Day thinks Brown or Kienholz would be able by next year or he thinks the portal QBs are trash.
Personally, I was intrigued by Ward.
Timing would be no different than if McCord stayed for 2 years.I think it would potentially throw the timing off of the QB room, leading to a possible loss of Keinholz. Plus, Ward probably wants big money, and I don't think Day wants to be put in a place (again) where he feels pressured to start somebody. There is no way Ward would come in and accept competing, and the boosters expect some return on investment.
Agreed he did not impress at first, but there were definitely glimpses there. I don't think he had the opportunity to get better, which is fine, because McCord won the matchup (sorta from some of the stuff coming out).Timing would be no different than if McCord stayed for 2 years.
My concern is that Brown looked really bad in his brief outings. If Kienholz is great, then this is the right decision. Otherwise, I expect we’ll regret passing on a passer.
Agreed Pnut. NIL shouldn't be a problem for tOSU, but too much smoke about not enough cash in the till. Don't believe there is anything like public disclosure, as not tied to any sort of public funding (state or federal $), so no requirement to share. Not certain how a public company like Nike can funnel so much cash to Oregon. Am I the only one concerned about roster numbers? Miyan only Buckeye that has declared for the draft. What, four players have run out of eligibility, and as of now have 22 recruits ready to sign in December. 14 portal players, maybe more by the time this missive hits the cloud. Would have thought more current Buckeyes would have declared for the draft, JT, Burke, Emeka, Trayveon (did read that he's returning), Sawyer, etc. Or those that are 'recusing' themselves from playing in a bowl game. I'm thinking that tOSU cannot chase any of the current portal folk, as there's too much NIL money tied up in current players, ergo cannot offer funds that are already in play. Interesting how lesser organizations can pony up more money than the university with the largest alumni base on the planet. Sitting on the edge of my chair, waiting to see how Day & Co fill the holes for next season. Go Bucks
So I know some like to throw their hands in the air and yell in frustration over the losses in recruiting, but OSU has won FAR more than they lost.
That’s fair.As recruiting rankings evolve, I'd like to see the breakdown of rankings per position group.
The wins are highly concentrated and so are the losses.
