tOSU Transfer Portal Recruiting Discussion

McCord wasn’t a runner, but I’m tired of people questioning his toughness. He repeatedly stood in the pocket and made throws knowing he was about to get rocked.
Yeah and he played the whole season on bad Ankles.

People are equating mental fortitude not sure if the right word. But willingness to stick it out and fight.

With physical toughness and the willingness to take a shot. He was the later two.

He wasn't elite at the mental game like CJ and that's why I had hope he's improve and make quicker reads with more time. But it is what it is at this point.

I'd debate this a bit....he certainly played through some injuries, but toughness is also stepping into a throw with a collpasing pocket. McCord threw off his back foot like it was a new trend. His footwork was atrocious, and it was that way prior to any injuries. I feel like that's part of the reason Day wouldn't commit to him....certain guys step into the fire, others bail. I feel like McCord bailed...a lot.

I'd also argue, a lot of the great throws people attribute to McCord, maybe weren't the best decisions...he forced multiple balls into tight windows which is always good for some accolades from those that don't know the game.....if you watched "all 22" some of those seam throws to Cade Stover specifically, into tight windows between a LB and safety, look magnificent until you realize Emeka Egbuka had a wide-open touchdown if McCord gets to that read.

He was a good QB. The part that bothered me with him, was that he was not making progress with his reads by the end of the season. For a kid that long in the program, and by the end of the season, one would expect improvement. It never seemed like it happened.

Tough kid, great memory against ND, and good QB.

Billy Price dealt with this in the NFL and got over it.
So as a professional, where he had dedicated coaching (assuming it's a shitload more competent than what we seem to have) and was able to practice 10x more time? I get that the yips can be overcome ... but do you trust our coaches to bring him back from the yips?

So you're saying that the choice is to eat an apple with a blemish or not eat the apple at all? Who goes to the portal if not to escape a bad situation, or enhance one's marketability? Hey, tOSU needs help in the Oline. I worry about Frye being able to correct the 'blemish' or not. PS, anyone heard what's happening with our 'disgraced' center? Has he been in the corner long enough, and he's welcomed back, or has he portaled himself (and I've not heard it yet?). PS, wasn't Simmons the 'most penalized' OL guy in the planet? Just saying that everyone in the portal has some baggage, it's simply a matter of being able to straighten it all out. PSS, why haven't I/we read about any of the existing OL folk moving on? With all the crap the OL has taken, it amazes me. Help clear my fog away, please.
